The filter category @ UV400 is good. But you should also check the quality of the lens for other factors:
1) General image quality. If its introducing glare, other visual artefacts, or blocking out a lot of light it will cause eye fatigue which isn't good for your child.
2) How well the lens wears. Have a look at other pairs of glasses on the rack. If lots of them are scratched or worse still the coating is worn, perhaps reconsider purchasing them.
3) Regardless of which glasses you purchase, make sure you check them periodically yourself. Unlike an adult your child won't know they shouldn't use their Sunglasses if parts of the coating are worn or there are scratches causing irritation/annoyance.
4) Its better to have no sun glasses then ones with no/poor UV protection or damaged lenses.
