Six coasters at Alton Towers in a day? Is it open for 18 hours straight?

One incident happened. Out of all the rides at Alton Towers, of all the times in one day those rides go, one incident. Can't be scared of going surely! You've got a much, much, much higher chance of something happening driving to work than spending a month there! Think people need to put things into perspective

If you dont fancy doing the rides, the scan points you need to complete the challenge are by the shop at the exit of each ride so you can just go to the shop and scan the app. All Done without going on the rides if you want the free return day but dont fancy doing the coasters.

Went last Tuesday, it rained.
Positives: Did get the big six done by 11:30
Negatives: rain feels like being stabbed by knitting needles on Rita and smiler.
Have fun.

With respect, you're quoting news reports so you don't REALLY know what you're talking about (and neither do I!!). However, as far as I'm aware AT have their own onsite emergency crews, PERHAPS they weren't aware of just how serious things were on that ONE occasion? From what I saw, even the external emergency crews had access issues, they might have simply not realised it was as bad as it was hence delaying the call. Regardless, you have a report of two trains colliding, it wasn't high speed, so they probably expected a bit of whiplash at worst, so they might have assumed that their teams could cope. Perhaps they then struggled to gain access, and eventually discovered the true extent and called in a full emergency?
Now, like your comment, this is pure speculation, but surely you don't believe that AT would want this to happen? Even the "kids" operating the machines wouldn't want things like this to happen, I'm sure that they would have reacted differently if they had known from the start?
My main issue is that people are effectively trying to shut down AT with no reason. I thought that their safety record was quite good? This was an isolated issue on a ride which is probably just too ambitious and probably should be taken down? I read a report about the "dangerous smiler strikes again" yesterday, apparently people were "in fear of their lives", turns out someone just held the safety restraint down when the train returned to the station so it didn't release and the system (rightly) reported a fault.....

I wish they'd bring back rides like the Human Trebuchet, like the one they had at Middlemoor Water Park in Somerset.
Strange title. Makes it sound like an advert more than a deal, and also there's an unclosed bracket.

Fact- you employ a kid fair enough, but what happens when something goes wrong? that poor kid ain gonna know what to do. hes going to panic whereas a mature adult who has had more experience in life will have a better judgement call and thats the kind of thing that's needed for jobs such as these. there's a lot more responsibility involved in this rather than say handing out burgers.
and this all comes back to my laid back comment. have a look into how long it took them to call the emergency services. if proper training was provided and protocols put in place then it wouldnt have taken so long for them to pull there finger out.
oh and i drive because i have to. i don't drive for fun so do you see the difference?

In what way were they too laid back after the accident ?
What by admitting blame straight away, saying those injured will want for nothing, making sure the ones who lost limbs were give the most advanced prosthetic legs going.
You say you won't risk taking your family there and young staff are a risk, yet I suspect your are willing to drive on a road which is far more dangerous, with young drivers all around you who are a high risk of having an accident.
I don't personally know one single person who has been hurt on any type of theme park ride, yet I have had a family member killed on the motorway through no fault of there own,and a couple of friends, and most people I know have had some sort of road collision at one time or another.
So for me the biggest risk about Alton towers is the car journey up there and back.

if you investigate further, you will find more than one incident happened.

well that's the thing. alton towers already had a few minor incidents before that and they were just too relaxed about everything. and even when this main incident happened, they were again too laid back. imo, they need to employ mature staff rather than save money by paying peanuts to school leavers. i will not risk taking my family there.

probably as it takes so long to queue for them they know its an impossible challenge!

Easy to be done if you go midweek. Went last year and did them all in about 90 minutes. Longest queue being The Smiler which was a 15 minute queue.
Didn't bother going back in September however.

I was there for a work event last week. The queues for the rides were extremly short so could have don't them within a few hours. Unfortunately I didn't have time due to needing to drive all the way back to london

Went yesterday and the queues were minimal, the biggest were in CBeebies Land. We walked straight on to Rita, Thirteen, Galactica and Nemesis.

Since the 'incident', Alton Towers has never recovered, there is rarely a queue over 45 mins - an hour on the big rides. Unfortunately they have also screwed the park up with reduced opening times and dates, closure of many rides and eateries and way too much focus on toddlers. The only big queues now are in CBeebies Land!

Oh excellent, I was never concerned about being hurt on a ride, and even less so now that it's happened and they'll doing everything they possibly can to not let it happen again, next time the hotel stay a 2 days in the park is closer to £50-60pp for 4 of us, I'll be up for it.

Sounds like a fun challenge. Would need to research before going which rides generally have the biggest queues and get those ones ticked off the list first with early park entry.
