Note, the camera wasn't on display in the Sheffield store - I had ask at the checkout for someone to get one for me.
I also have Costco executive membership which gets me 2% cashback plus Costco American Express which adds another 1%. Also American Express were offering £10 cashback on any purchase at Costco over £100, just login to the American Express website a go to the "Offers" tab and see if the offer is available to add to your card.
So in all I paid:
509.98 - 75 (to be claimed back from Sony) - 10.20 (2% Costco cashback) - 5.10 (1% Amex cashback) - 10 (Costco Amex offer) = £409.68
As with all Costco electronics you get an excellent 2 year warranty.
If you can't get to a Costco it's also available from Costco website for slightly more.

Thanks OP, anyone knows if Costco would qualify for Sony UK cash back?

Read up about it and it'll answer your ignorance.

Aye, there were loads of dinosaurs in the 20th century.
This is superior to your phone. You might not think so... but it is. Some people appreciate that and are willing to pay. I have the mark 5 and it's pretty excellent.

My Samsung S6 has one of the best phone cameras out there but if I went out tonight and took a picture of the sunset and compared it to a picture from my £250 Canon G9X there would be no comparison. S6 would be incredibly grainy.

You need to include Costco membership.

Why? I don't have to renew membership every time I shop there. Should every Amazon Prime deal include the £79 membership?

really want one of these but the lack of a hot shoe is putting me off buying it
You can however the 5% surcharge is about £25 which is more than the £15 joining fee.

Yep I have this camera plus an iPhone 7+, I always use this "dinosaur" wherever possible because the quality is vastly superior. If caring about quality over convenience makes me a dinosaur I'm happy to be one!
What you mean is the S6 used to have one of the best cameras in a phone but it doesn't anymore, it's good but not as good as a dedicated camera, which should be obvious but unfortunately many people are oblivious to the fact that a dedicated camera will generally give better picture quality.

I haven't een a single review with actual pictures which show a phone taking better pictures than the S6. S7/8 has a bigger sensor, but from actual examples its almost negligible, but that's not really my point, as soon as you pay more than £150 on a dedicated camera (after a bit of deal hunting) it will destroy any phone camera.
