This is the link from the vodafone free vr deal (expired)
which suggests they are the same, both headsets are for S6 S7 phones. I think you would be fine but could not say for certain. My Note 4 is a little snug but I don't have to force it in, it fits very comfortably in the headset. Hope this helps.

I wondered if your gear VR headset from Vodafone is the same as the one selling on Ebay? ta

I doubt it will ever be cheap. I got one of these when I had a note 4 and cut a few bits to make it fit. Works fine but the note 4 is just a little too old for gear vr, works perfectly fine but overheats very quickly. So I would say don't bother

I got a gear vr headset free with the vodafone offer on here so that gear vr is compatible with a note 4. They say not compatible with note 4 but works fine on my note 4 and fits nicely. Must say it's a pretty decent experience and I had a htc vive previously!

Do they all use the phones display?
Reason i ask is that I tried the cardboard VR which I got free from BT and mostly the image quality was pretty poor on YouTube content and games, demos etc...assuming it's just magnifying the display to cover entire peripheral vision....

The Gen 2 can be had from Amazon for £42.99 (see more buying options) if you are prepared to wait 2-4 weeks. Maybe that is a better option for some who require it to work with the S8?
I have both this and the later black/blue one issued with the S7
I "believe" this one will fit a Note 4 if you break off a few plastic lugs.
it won't fit a S8
the blue/black one has an interchangeable connector supplied with the headset. if you put the USB c head on it INSTEAD of the B. NOT an adapter. then I believe that headset works with the S8
there are a few design changes between white and black/blue that for me personal are worth it.
the biggest being more room for European noses. I'm cursed with quite a large nose and after watching a 45 min tv ep my nose is killing me on this headset.
also the blue/black one has vents to stop it steaming up. the first 10 mins of any tv ep on the white headset are all steamy

That's some very useful information. I have the VR set but not the controller. Could you by chance post a link to the original Samsung controller.

Aside from the controller what's the main differences between this one and the later models?

I've seen so many conflicting reports about whether this works with the S8. Is anyone able to confirm that I could use this with the USB adapter I got with the phone? Thanks

The new vr Inc remote is around £100. So since you can buy the controller separately for roughly £30, I'm in your boat and would also like to know if anyone has used this headset version with the controller and S8/S8 plus combo? Thanks.

I've this for my S7. There's just about enough room for the S7, I can't see how you can fit an adapter AND S8 into the available space. Unless your USB adapter is really short. I tried it with my Anker USB C adapter but it's too long.

don't think it's compatible with the note 4....I have 2016 version which is great...paired with a Bluetooth controller, which makes things so much easier. looks great on my s7 edge, but have upgraded to the s8....actually looks alittle better....looking to buy the new official controller and also waiting for the official update that allows you to stream to your Chromecast so the people can also see why on earth you're screaming so hysterically. PS the be unite does not an amoled screen built in l....its your Samsung amoled phone that is the screen...just I'd point this out as the item description can be construed as misleading....29quid is a bargain.....heated up
