I've never had the opportunity to try one of these. What's the resolution like? I've heard mainly positive things but some have said VR isn't quite there yet and it won't be until the next generation of hardware until it will be as expected.

It can be blurry. The graphics aren't close to what you find while playing PS4 normally. Having said that, it's offset by the immersion you feel while playing it. It works really well. There aren't many big games for it yet however, as developers are still finding their feet with VR. It's going to be years before it properly finds it's feet. Way past the 2nd gen headsets to be honest.
It's great at doing what it does but ultimately, only you can decide whether you should jump in and invest in it today. It is early tech so I'd say don't go jumping into it expecting to be playing AAA games on tap, otherwise you'll be disappointed.

It's not there yet, reading text is bad, watching any video content is bad, the games are really low res and... it's just crap right now and the tracking in PSVR is so bad.
VR needs 5 more years, that's if developers ever make something worthwhile for it.

Played my mates one last night.. tbh I wasn't overally impressed. a bit blurry ,I mean it was kinda good but not £350 good. maybe if there selling old stock in 2yrs time for £99 I might invest but now... no

You've gotta imagine with all these deals suddenly that they know Sony are going to be knocking the price down or announcing a 2.0 version or something.

There is no way Sony will announce a new headset less than a year later. It would be commercial suicide. The thing costs £350. It would be like announcing the PS5 on Monday and then announcing the PS6 next February.
This is already effectively a price cut. The headset was £350 alone before so you're getting around a £100 price cut already.

I wonder if there is gonna be a VR and PS4 500gb bundle, for £499?

It would be possible with a vanilla ps4 maybe as an xmas deal, but if i was after such a think i would be looking for a pro vrbundle for £599.

I love vr (i have a rift mind you but i did have a dk2 as well which is more like this). You have to understand its limitations and if you can accept those imo there are some genres i just refuse to play out of vr now. IF ED supports PSVR you are in for such a treat. The game itself is a flawed masterpiece but in vr it goes to another level.
Dirt rally is great tho i wont be buying another codemasters product whilst the hold pc vr games to ransom over psvr sales
Edit, farpoint comes with the gun right? If so i am tempted myself for my pro
@maccy1 funny post but for those who dont know and take it seriously the comparison is not the same. In vr your eyes focus to infinity and the refresh rate of the screen is higher. I reckon i get less eyestrain on a massive session in vr than i do sat at a monitor

But the Pro doesn't increase performance of the VR does it? As I only have 1080P TVs and I have zero intention of going to 4K, a Pro would be pointless for me I think.
bigmike20vt
10 Jun 17#15
Obviously depends on the game but generally the pro offers improvements for both vr & gaming @1080p. (My pro only goes on 180p TV and between boost mode for better frames and visual upgrades I have no regrets.
But that is just IMO, value is a personal thing so if you disagree that's cool

The deal is live at Argos, just reserved one at a local store. Might be difficult to find Farpoint in stock though as only one store had it, it is also out of stock for home delivery.
Click on the Shop Now link on the PlayStation.com link above and it gives you a link to the Argos deal, amongst others.

These deals are Sony sanctioned. It's had a price drop. This is it. Sony aren't going to drop it further and wind up all those they got to buy them. The deal is on until the 18th. Way past Monday.
Damn I want one of these but cant justify, I could state the it will make the wife slimmer and prettier do you think that is worth a shot ? Or say the kids will be more intelligent if we get it ? Help me !

Well, it's not quite the same deal at Argos as it includes VR Worlds instead of Driveclub.
Anyway, as it includes the camera, this was the deal I had been waiting for. Already have Move controllers from my PS3. Shame they don't give you the gun with Farpoint though...especially as the Aim Controller with Farpoint bundle appears to have sold out everywhere and the the reptiles are selling them for twice the price on eBay etc.

Decent price. But as others as side, interesting prospect as it is, it's not a good investment at this price point when by this time next year you'd expect it to start depreciate in price by a £100 or more in bundles. PS4 pro has the best chance to play it at its best resolution, but it won't mature game wise till PS5 at the earliest.
