I have this exact bundle but got it with the Pi 2 a couple of years back. The case is decent, but the power supply is rubbish. I often got the little rainbow square in the top right corner of the screen which meant the unit wasn't receiving enough power, in some cases this can cause the unit to power off/reset, which I have experienced once or twice. Once I switched over to the official power supply - no more problems.

I also thought they were all the same but with my limited research some are say uk boards so I don't know whether some are made in China? Maybe copies? And why is it labelled neego? Not raspberry?
I've also not bought one before so it's relatively new to me aswell!

Could be wrong here but if you want a Rasp Pi go to thepihut website, cant comment on where they are made but they ae the official website for the Pi.

Odd I did the same and all worked well although I've now have Google Assistant on it instead, suggest you try that as set up is far simpler. The PS3 Eye is about the best mic on the market for doing this and mine was a whole 75p from cex :smile:

I've had a look on elements but I ended up on CPC farnell as I think that's who do the sales. I've ordered from before and think there a great company.
I've seen this from Amazone which includes a 16gb SD card so maybe a better deal, minus the heatsinks. For £44

A far as I can see you get the 2 Pi3 and cable when purchasing it. So the box and the reading material are what's the difference here.

I suspect they've just stuck the bundle in their own branded box. The reviews look fine. I might look into using my Pi2 as a Google Home controller!

I got Alexa up and running, kind of. I had to do some editing of the configuration file with regards to vlc/sox and to get it to recognise my eye toy. Sound could still be choppy when it came to reading the news etc and I couldn't get my spotify to work so may look into Assistant instead thanks.
Heat for the price as its pretty decent. Purchased a pi 3 myself not long ago and you defintely need heatsinks as a precaution as it runs hotter than this deal! I paid more than this so good deal. With regards to the google assistant and echo you are not going to get their music services running or there would be no point in them selling the dot/echo/google assistant otherwise...I did look into it a while back and i think you can get radio services working and thats it regards to music.
Nice pi 3 case although i prefer the clear cases as people love the look of the insides but hey, guess thats just my personal preference.
Hardly any power useage as i can run mine for 2 days off a phone battery pack....lovely machine especially for kids and you can run Kali Linux off it also!

Google's own guide that moon monkeys linked to is really easy to follow and doesn't have any of the errors third party guides seem to manage to include when they add their own custom code.

The Eye is automatically recognised and working in the current version of the RPi OS, nothing more to do than any other usb mic. I gather this was broken for a while in one of the recent versions so maybe you used that one?
As others have said, this isn't a complete diy Alexa or Google home replacement. You can ask it things and control smart devices but for the full music player etc experience you need the real thing. If what you can do with Assistant on your phone is what you want you'll be happy with this.
I use mine mainly to control my lights and heating, which is set up with Home Assistant also on the RPi, and to settle family arguements with the usual inane Google questions.

I used the latest AlexaPi software on my Pi2 and had to change the config line for the source plughw:CARD=Camera etc etc. I also rolled back the AlexaPi software to a previous one. One of those things did the trick with the Eye.
I've chucked my 128gig card back in there with a RetroPie image, complete Romset with Attract Mode etc in now. May still give Assistant a try though, it'll keep me quiet for a bit.
Edit Oh, and I was using Raspbian with Pixel, latest version.

Ah...I didn't have a lot of luck with his projects.
Start with a fresh Jessie lite, no need for pixel and it just slows it down, then follow Google's instructions exactly.

This is a brilliant bit of kit so if you're at all geeky & like fiddling about with anything techy, go for it! My Pi2 runs Raspbian Lite & is on 24/7. I use it mainly as a media server (Plex & Logitech Media Server) but it also has Kodi and Syncthing running in the background. My next project is to get it running home security software (possibly Zoneminder) to monitor a couple of IP cameras.

I ended getting the cheaper deal without the case for £34.99 plus a case with a fan for just over a tenner. More than I wanted to pay but maybe a better option for the future? Do these overheat? If not why the heatsinks? Overcooking maybe?

So long as you don't need to transcode. i.e. if your Plex player (TV, etc.) can direct handle the formats stored in Plex.
