Is that optional or compulsory ? - I'm not planning on doing lots of shopping there so for 4 nights I wouldn't need a large suitcase.

Why would be ar5ed for 3 days in New York?
Loading and taking a suitcase, then waiting for it to come out of the conveyor etc.. Take a massive hand luggage and live a little.

Stansted, no thanks, worst airport ever now, even though it's my closest.

Not been to Luton lately then?
Used stanstead last month and no issues whatsoever. It was a Jet2 flight and the plane must of been fairly new. Better legroom then alot of other airlines I've used although it was half empty so didn't matter too much!

Black friday is the 24th november so if you took the flight on the 30th you'd be a tad late

im sure before november you could easily find a flight at similar price to new york with a proper airline rather than Jet2 and their old buckets that always break down - even with a change at Amsterdam or Paris etc it would be better than this

They don't use the standard fleet for transatlantic flights. Jet2's (admittedly old) planes are not able to fly to the US. Another option for low cost flights is to get a Ryanair flight to Dublin and then fly Aer Lingus to New York.

What are you on about Jet2's fleet not able to fly to the US? I don't think you know what you're talking about. If they're not able to fly to the US, do they just drop their passengers off the ocean, turn back to the UK, profit, rinse and repeat?
Jet2's and Aerlingus's fleet consist both A330 and 757 which are used for their transatlantic flights.

They use their fleet of 757's for the New York route. They have been doing these Christmas shopping trips to the States for at least 6 years.

The flight we were on Stansted to Lanzerote a month back used a jet that was 2 weeks old.
