Say what you like about eglobal central and buying from outside the UK, but this is the cheapest this phone has been. I bought the platinum version yesterday (when the black version was more expensive).

Ridiculous price but EGlobal and LG have left a very sour taste in my mouth after my LG G4 went into a bootloop.

Tempting. I have the G5 with the modular DAC module, wondering if this 'Quad DAC' would sound better (mine already good).
redduck to FlappyPappy
21 Jun 171#5
i can't comment on the DAC quality but don't forget that the G5 had the Snapdragon 820 processor whereas the G6 has the only ever so slightly faster Snapdragon 821 processor, compared to the 835 that all the other 'flagship' phones have.

For me it is just not buying an LG product outside of the UK. I read that something like one in five LG G4 phones have had to go back to LG for repair at least once. Mine has been back three times. That's annoying but at least it CAN go back for a repair. You are on your own with companies outside the UK and for me the risk is way to high to consider this as a potential buy.

Was really tempted by this phone at this price, but
there will be another one soon.
I ordered an LG V20, no updates on delivery from their courier. I posted a ticket to their helpdesk on Tuesday, and no response from them at all. I'd previously ticketed them because the tracking data on DPD was wrong, and they took three days to respond and didn't really address the issue.

Great price, but this is getting ridiculous now - a new thread for every price decrease, which seems to be happening twice a week now (Edit: Or, even every few hours now!)
Incredibly, the cut-down UK version holds its high price (£600 appears to be the lowest) as people must be buying at this price.

Bit gutted as I get it at a higher price from the same outfit. No problems with delivery and the phone is VERY good indeed. I don't know if the Plus will be much different to this one as it has 64GB rather than the 32GB of the IK model and has the quad DAC. Dual SIM too.
Don't worry about it only having a Smapdragon 821, it run smooth and fast.

I have, they state that because eglobal bought their warranty they cannot support the handset and I must contact eglobal. Everyone knows that's a lost cause. They don't want to know.
iceboy
21 Jun 17#18
If the phone was under warranty the time, you should have contacted eglobal first. And if they didn't budge, you could maybe pursue Section 75? You can still do this if the phone is still under warranty (2 years in Europe but not sure about eglobal's warranty period)

The 2 years is offered by LG and not EGlobal. As they're in HK, section 75 would mean nothing.
I've had the pleasure of dealing with EGlobal and they're the shadiest company I have ever dealt with. They actually held my handset ransom and would respond to my ticket once every 2-6 days. Took 3 months to get my handset back from them.

They are absolutely useless. I ordered a phone from there and after the 3rd day with no update I chased them every day for 7 days and never heard anything back with my phone still showing as 'processing' (despite showing as in stock).
It was only when i raised a complain through paypal I finally got a reply "We are sorry you wish to cancel your order why is this".

CCA s75 creates joint & several liability with the retailer & CC company
Even if the retailer is abroad, if the card is issued under the CCA then you can claim from the issuer (for items priced between £100 & £30K).
I am not bothered about eglobal, you can even get quidco and topcashback as well as claim on CC or house insurance....
The thing that annoys me...
Is the fact you cannot upgrade your battery....
My current Sammy S3 has a zerolemon extended battery and I only need to charge it once a week, these iffy piffy ''new high tech'' phones all suffer the same problem...

Was it the overheating CPU that destroys them or another problem like modding?
presterjohn71
23 Jun 17#40
Overheating was an issue but the main problem was the camera constantly shutting down when in use and random camera shut down notifications popping up night and day cutting off youtube videos and suchlike. Turning notifications off made no difference. So far LG have replaced the camera once and the motherboard once. It's with them now for a third time.

I'd agree with stoney73 (although I'm a Huawei fan), as the P10 costs considerably more (from EGC or anywhere else), doesnt it? Come to think of it, even if the pricing was similar, I'd still go for the G6 - the unusual display aspect, higher-res screen & quad-DAC win it for me.

Is there any reason this is going so cheap unlike most other models of their site? In the last month this site has dropped the price multiple times but most other phones have stayed the same price, its a very good handset from what I've seen in reviews and this version has a lot more than the UK versions. I'm close to pulling the trigger but with all things that look too good to be true, this deal certainly does which is why I'm a little suspicious why this phone in particularly keeps getting a lot of attention from eglobal with the constant price drops.
sionyboy
24 Jun 171#56
I cheaped out and went for free delivery (it still arrived via DPD) and it took 10 working days to arrive (Ordered Sun 11, arrived Fri 23rd). A little bit longer than their stated 6-8 working days, but I can live with that.
sionyboy
24 Jun 171#57
I think its just down to the fact it hasn't sold as well LG were hoping, which has led to big discounts in various markets. In the States you can pick this up for $500 new, one carrier was offering buy one, get one free for people who got it on contract. In the UK Three are now offering LG Watch Style Smartwatch and B&O headphones (worth approx £350 bought separately) for people who pick up a G6 through contract.
It's a good phone, I've only had it a day but am impressed with it so far, but LG really dropped the ball trying to price it as high as they did. 2017 flagship price, with 2016 specs. I'd imagine they are now trying to shift stock where possible, either through discounting or bundle deals.

I nearly ordered this until I was informed that this does not have any expandable memory (no SD card slot so I guess it's replaced by the 2nd SIM slot)?
And before anybody starts I like to have onboard memory and not have to rely on the Cloud services.
sionyboy
27 Jun 171#65
It does have expandable storage, there are two sim slots, one of which doubles as a Micro SD slot.
You can't have two sim cards and a microSD card though.

27 Jun 17#66
I wasn't aware of that: bit of a bummer, but i only really need the second SIM when i'm abroad. Or i'll simply make do with the internal storage - 64GB is just about enough for me. So i'll just have to live with that minor disadvantage!

27 Jun 17#69
Received mine as well. Can confirm that it is a Korean model (is made there too - which is nice). That also means that it also comes with an asian plug.. though, they did include a separate travel adapter outside of the package which works.
The phone did come unsealed but is brand new. They've probably done this to check the phone and and set the device to English. On top of that they've also pre-applied a screen protector to the phone. I'll be using my own tempered glass one.. but hey, its a nice thought.
Ordered the black version, and its a quality phone. Came within a week of ordering.. really happy with that!
otherparty
27 Jun 17#70
What's the difference between your tempered-glass protector and the pre-applied one? [just wondering whether i should get a glass one too]
Hinch87
27 Jun 171#71
The one applied is just the usual thin plastic layer that protects the screen from scratches. The tempered glass one gives it a bit more protection, especially if you drop your phone facing down. I'm a bit clumsy, so its just piece of mind for me so if I do manage to do that, its the screen protector that gets damaged, and not the screen.
Hi. Could you tell me if the phone supports 4G in both slots, or at least 4G + 3G simultaneously. My intention is to buy a Three data sim and use the other slot on Three too, but that one just for calls. I'm afraid because Three doesn't use 2G for calls. Does this have Fm and notification light? Thank you in advance!
sionyboy
28 Jun 17#74
It does have FM Radio (you'll need to plug headphones in for it to pick up stations)
It does not have notification LED

I think people are looking for the 'catch' on this deal and I guess there is one, sort of, it's the fact that getting support out of the retailer could be an issue. However there is nothing wrong with the phone. In order to minimize the risk use a credit card and then you have section 75 protection. The fact that the retailer is out the UK makes no difference, it's the credit card company that have to comply with U.K. law.
I think this is the best smartphone deal I have seen given that the G6 in the U.K. (With inferior specs to this one) is getting for double the price.
There is a G6 Plus coming out but it has the same CPU, 128GB and wireless charging which is why I think this is so cheap and maybe ECG bought a job lot of them.
