* 1939 Register, newspapers and some record sets not included in free access.
A shame because the 1939 register is the only thing I care about

I currently have a cheap 3 month deal with findmypast using it to research for my trees that are on Ancestry. But these free access weekends are good and I use them when I am not subscribing. It is true you can only get full access to the 1939 Census by having the full annual subscription or pay to view. However you do get a preview out of it you can glean year of birth, area of residence and if people are listed you know that they died before 1991. One thing Findmypast has that Ancestry doesn't is electoral register from 2002-2017 and also you can download 1841-1911 census to review at your will later.

I'm finding that a lot of this research is just links to links to links, so I'm going around in circles getting nowhere, except the occasional dead end where I have to pay to get information(that may not be there).

Thanks for the heads up OP - heat added. It appears, according to "Find my past" that I don't have a past and none of relations existed!

I guess I have to sign up to a new account to get this? Already had one and when I search for anything, it wants me to sign up for 12 months to get the 1939 records :disappointed:
