I spotted this a few weeks ago on JL's website at £629, and then £699 this week, but it's just dropped to £599 making it a very attractive deal for a current gen laptop with a decent size SSD in my opinion.
Should be a good all rounder for most needs with an extra boost from the decent processor and SSD.
Specs are as follows: Core i5-7200U (2.5GHz, up to 3.1GHz turbo boost) 8GB DDR4 RAM 256GB SSD AMD Radeon R7 M445 4GB 15.6" screen - 1080p DVDRW drive 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0 802.11ac wirless 42Whr battery Includes JL 2 year guarantee Free delivery
Just ordered one myself.

I think this was the one that John Lewis had it for £499 it went crazy on HUKD. It was price error but they still honoured it. It was 7th gen intel

i believe your facts are incorrect.
the price was 449 and it wasn't the same pc as this one has ssd installed in it. that one didn't have ssd.
besides that nobody confirmed there was a pricing error on that one.

These were £306 on the Dell outlet 4 days ago:
15.6 1080P
i5 7th generation 3.1
8GB RAM
256GB SSD
Radeon 4GB - entry level.
Windows 10
1 year warranty
Nope, not a whole lot different as the i5 on these kaby lakes are very similar to the i7s in benches ans both are dual cores. Better to get the ssd.

I think I might go for this.
Some reviews online say the screen is quite poor, does anyone know if this is true?

I had the Inspiron 15 on my shortlist until I took a trip to Currys a couple of weeks ago to look at some models in the flesh and I was VERY disappointed with the screen on this laptop. It was dull AND fuzzy and I have since decided against this laptop completely solely because of this.
Funnily enough, one of the best screens I saw (in this price range) was the Inspiron 13 - it was a bright, crisp screen that was visibly superior aside the 15" Inspiron. I think it's a 2in1 though, the screen folds around and I am not really interested in that.

100% sure as I took it to the basket where I added the 15% off code.
Also had with 1TB HDD rather than 256G SSD for £280 delivered.
This laptop - not a big difference from under £300 i3 laptop. Advantages are ssd and 1080p, others are hardly an upgrade.

i5 will provide a substantial boost from i3 in day to day use. i5 to i7 not so much. Find us a comparable i3 with 8GB ram and an SSD.
I don't think this deal is red hot or anything... just saying

matter of opinion
I bought the similar one last year and picture is good of a quality

On closer inspection I don't think anybody should buy this laptop. The screen is ABYSMAL. It's TN and Notebookcheck reports it as producing only 150nits!
There's very little difference between i3/i5/i7 'U' chips in a laptop.
I really don't see how a low power mobile i5 chip will provide a "substantial boost" in day to day activities. Desktops are another story entirely.
As you say that was last year.
You can't compare it to this year's model if it's using different components especially the screen.

So has anyone actually got one of these and comment on the screen. Is it really that bad?

This laptop has potato graphics, so it's no good for gaming.

This is a much better deal, is it not?
Would even still be cheaper to buy a 256 SSD and swap out the HDD. Could even buy an enclosure for the HDD and have a 1tb external drive.
EDIT: I see this has dedicated graphics. If you're not interested in playing games then the i7 deal is the much better option
