Good price in my opinion as all the extras are included. Its a personal cover which means the policyholder is covered in any vehicle. Plus free cover for your partner too.

No but taking into account the price, its a massive saving over either the RAC or AA, I got £2.86 tracked on tcb too, so takes it down to £36.14

It's £43.81 direct from their website
Appreciate the post
But a £4 saving is hardly a hot deal ?

Used them about 4 months back wife had the car,The alternator collapsed inside and flattened the battery they were there in 45 minutes despite it being rush hour.Brought the car home and no bill he said autoaid just pay them now.Great service a third of the price of AA etc.
Last time i had AA and broke down they tried to get me to let them take the car to the main Citroen agents,And also fried my key fob.

I know someone whose diesel engine was written off just as a result of a lorry driving past and splashing a water wave that caught the air inlet.

Stick with AA, do pay a bit more but they have patrols ready and waiting, and get you going in most instances.

I've always found autoaid to be superb. AA would cost a lot more for equivalent cover.

Car died at 2am on the way to my sister's place on the Isle of Wight. Autoaid arranged a tow to my sisters place that night. A second one to tow us back to the ferry the following day. A third one to take us from the ferry to the edge of London (truck's emissions meant it couldn't take us all the way) and then a fourth truck to take us home. The only issue was that the third truck was 30 mins late so the ferry company had to drag the car off the ferry.

Had it a few years back and seemed good. Only stopped it as breakdown is currently included with my current car.
Only issue I had was the local breakdown company they sent never sent a paper invoice even when I requested one at the time when paying them. So each time I called them out I was always chasing the breakdown company up for the invoice before I could submit claim for payment back from auto aid. No problems with auto aid themselves.
An earlier comment suggests the payment is handled by auto aid now though in which case that's even easier and would avoid my issue.

I guess it's a lesson for all of us - I do see a lot of cars driving through deep floodwater and wonder how much a car can take, turns out it's not too much. Pretty harsh of the insurance not to pay out though, unless the road is closed you'd think they have to pay - if you're not familiar with the road you might not know how deep the water actually is.

That's a question I asked myself thousand times. It was 5.30am in the morning and I saw a load of parked cars on the other side of the road. It was country lanes and cars were in front of me. They went through the water and I followed. I stupidly moved over to let an on coming car get through but because of the camber of the road the water now came up beyond the door cill and I stalled. Water got in through the air intake. Engine water locked, end of story. I wouldn't mind tiny cars in front of me got through and my large saloon didn't

So if I took this policy out will it cover 2 vehicles if the other is my wife's?

Yes given you are legally married, but technically the policy covers the person not the car although you have to be the driver of it. So you can be technically driving any car and be covered ;-)

NATIONWIDE (BRITANNIA RESCUE) are horrific. To quote a incident my car suffered steering problems whilst on holiday in Bournemouth. Telephoned them to report incident @ 16.30
@18.00 there agent arrives and says car needs recovery. Spoke to Britannia controller who said because we were traveling with a 8 year old to stay in our accommodation and recovery would commence back to Newport at 9am. At 9am wagon shows up and driver informs us he is only contracted to take us
to podimorre services in Yeovil. Where we are dumped and told a truck should be there waiting for us. . On arrival no truck so we are just left there. Completely clueless of what is going on so I Phone brittania told truck on route. 2 hours later phoned again explained I am diabetic and had a cold hungry child with me told. Truck just leaving Newport told them this was crazy as i formally worked as a lgv driver and knew it would take truck 3 hours to reach us from. Newport Told that's all they can provide so after yet another hours wait. I phoned Britannia who again told me this is the only truck they can get and it was only then departing from Newport despite previously being told diff After yet another hours wait I phoned and told them I had had enough and was contacting the.Yeovil evening newspaper. Then miracously they found a local truck that showed up in 20 mins just to put the cherry on the cake the driver tried to make me pay his £20 Severn crossing lgv toll which I refused. And he phoned Britannia who told him it's his responsibility I know all companies have good and bad days but we now avoid Britannia like the plague

I guess the devils in the detail which you only find out when you come to use it. So in future if I encounter a similar situation I'll say I parked it there ;-). Very good of Nationwide though for the 2 tows as its always a question as to which garage you should tow it to when you breakdown esp at the weekend.

Excellent service, only used once over 3 years of being with them. Got flat tyre but couldn't get the dam thing off, seized up. Recovery came out and knocked it off with a big old rod so i could put the spare on

If you cast you mind back to the referendum day, it poured down with rain. Autoaid's attitude was that I purposely drove my car into a flooded area and therefore would not cover me. If I had come out and my car was in a flooded road after being parked up, then they would have covered me. Nationwide were excellent and did allow me 2 tows. I'm unsure if it was exceptional circumstances, but that's what happened. I actually used Autoaid to get car from garage back home as it never got repaired (water blocked - i think that's the term). This was all a tiny victory though because the insurance company did not pay out and the car was considered a write off

So what was the reason they wouldn't tow you home? Also did I understand correctly that the breakdown cover you had actually allowed for 2 tows, one to home and then one from home to a garage? If so that's very good.
I've had autoaid for several years and fortunately have never had to claim although my father has on a handful of occasions and always found it to be very efficient even more so in recent times as the bill is just handled between the towing company and autoaid with no credit card needed.

I used to use this company and in my hour of need they let me down (I drove my car into a flooded road and they wouldn't tow me home). I was lucky because I was double insured and Nationwide Flex Plus Accont for £10 per month covered me properly. I got vehicle back home and then they allowed me to get it collected from home and delivered to garage. Family mobile phone insurance together with worldwide travel insurance makes it a difficult overall policy to beat if you've got a family.

Had to claim on my Autoaid policy yesterday and it was very efficient. Recovery truck collected my car within the hour and only had to sign a form at the end of it to say it was dealt with. No more payment at the roadside and claiming afterwards.

However, if you are not legally married or in a civil partnership, we are unable to cover a common-law partner under the same policy. If your partner would like to become an AutoAid Breakdown member, a separate breakdown policy would be needed.
This is the reason I'm no longer with Autoaid. But having been with them in the past and used their services a couple of times I found them easy to claim from.

Only covers spouse and civil partner.
1. Does my breakdown insurance with
AutoAid cover my spouse/partner/civil partner?
AutoAid Breakdown covers you and your legal spouse or civil partner with total breakdown cover, which includes, roadside assistance, a vehicle recovery service to one place of your choice, home breakdowns, emergency travel or overnight hotel accommodation and an attached caravan or small trailer.
However, if you are not legally married or in a civil partnership, we are unable to cover a common-law partner under the same policy. If your partner would like to become an AutoAid Breakdown member, a separate breakdown policy would be needed.
