That one has no DVI so your connection options are reduced but depending on your GPU most cards will allow HDMI now anyway. I don't think it has it's own speakers either, so it's personal preference I guess. That monitor is back up to £140 now.

hot. my AOC 23" 1080p IPS is great. Scared to try another non-IPS monitor now! Would like to upgrade to 27" though...

Yeah, none of those things are of concern to me; only the picture quality, which I can't find any information about.
It's still £93 on Ebuyer.

That is a good price, certainly for an IPS panel. But 1080p is a bit yesteryear - now I would look at either QHD (unfortunately very expensive) or 4K (more pixel for the money).

Yup, agreed..

Nonsense.
23" is a good size for 1080p - imo text starts to look a bit blurry on bigger 1080p screens.
Great price.

You are obviously right about higher resolutions being better quality - The sad fact of the matter is, those monitors are expensive. For a 27" IPS monitor with only 1440p resolution it's going to set you back at least 3 times the amount of this monitor and is going to drain the performance of your machine.
Until 1440p and 4K are more financially viable I'd say 1080p is kinda here to stay. It is in no way representative of the entire user-base, but Steam users for example are 47% 1080p users as I discovered earlier.
Opening post
Acer R231 23" Full HD IPS LED Monitor
23" IPS Display
ZeroFrame Design
1920 x 1080 Full HD
VGA, DVI & HDMI
4ms Response Time
It has it's own speakers, but as with all built-in speakers, expect sound quality to be poor.
It's worth noting that DVI/HDMI cables are not supplied.
