Feel At Home

What is feel at home?

On holiday we reckon you should be able to top up your tan and your Instagram. That's why we're helping you to Go Roam around the world without splashing any extra cash in places like the USA and Australia. We've already set up your phone, so you're free to get up, get out and #holidayspam in 60 destinations around the world from June 2017. Keep data roaming on and use your data, and call and text back to the UK, just like you do at home. So go on, get out of airplane mode, and into holiday mode. Now that is the feeling of roaming the world at no extra cost. Go Roam.

Now in 50 destinations including USA, Australia, Germany, Portugal, Greece and many more. For a list of current destinations where customers can Go Roam, see below.

From 15 June 2017 we’ll be adding the following destinations: Brazil, Singapore, Aland Islands, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin and San Marino.

That's more destinations where you can use your phone abroad at no extra cost than any other UK mobile network.

Personal Hotspot.

Share your phone’s internet with other devices such as tablets and laptops. This can be really handy when you’re away from a WiFi network. You can use all of your data allowance as a personal hotspot unless you’ve chosen a plan with All-you-can-eat data in which case you can use up to 30GB of this each month as a personal hotspot allowance in the UK.

I went with 3 last time they had a decent cashback offer. Worst phone call quality ever. I can barely hear a single word. EE is much better. 3 suck.

Three UK state these three things on their web site for Roam while at home, all of which EE permit, which you may find interesting:

1. If you have all-you-can-eat data you can use up to 12GB roaming. If you have all-you-can-eat texts you can send up to 5,000 texts. If you have 3,000 or more minutes included in your allowance you can use up to 3,000 minutes.

2. You can't use your phone as a personal hotspot (tethering) while you're abroad.

3. You can’t use your minutes allowance to make calls to local or other international numbers, as you can only use your inclusive minutes to call UK numbers, whether you’re in the UK or a Feel At Home destination.

I bought this plan a few weeks ago and love it. I don't have broadband where I currently live and I can watch anything I want using 3's 4G. Speeds are decent and the whole 30GB can be used as a hotspot. You can also pay £5 more for an addon if you use all your data in the current month to get unlimited data which another 30GB is usable via hotspot meaning with the addon you get a total of 60GB to use as a hotspot and unlimited 4G on your device...

All in all, a bargain and I am really happy cheeky

Got unlimited minutes/texts and 30GB data for £15/month, agreed yesterday as a renewal deal.

FYI feel at home is only included with advance plans (which these are), but from 15/6/17 all customers (including essential plans) will be able to use their allowance in all EU countries without charge (but not non-EU countries included in feel at home e.g. USA, New Zealand etc).

Went into 3 store Beaumont Leys Leicester as my wife's phone kept saying no service thinking it was her phone.. the guys couldn't check her sim in another phone because ... they don't get any signal in their store. They have to walk 100 yards to get a signal, cost me £70 to get out of contract and go to another provider with a signal .... 3s not good, at least not where I live ... haven't had a problem since changing provider

So, what we're discovering in this deal (and many others) is that network signal varies from location to location.

We have learnt a great deal ;-)

Personally I was scarred by prior experience with Three (when they used to only deal in Superdrug stores) and their CS outsourcing; are their support agents still India based?

I signed up to 20GB Vodafone today, unlimited calls/SMS, with 12 months Spotify Premium (12 month SIMO) for £21 on retention. Personal preference though I'd rather have gone to EE.

Yes their CS is still India based and utterly useless and annoying IME. Showed me no customer loyalty for a 5+ year customer.

Like any deal on here there are always going to be those who say they have unbelievable deals.

Broadband, mobile, train travel and air travel - it's all a racket that is heavily subsidised by the tax payer. Which is why Branson has his own island and hasn't personally paid a penny in tax in the UK for over 40 years....
sam_of_london

Three has very less mobile bandwidth compared to EE because the Chinese man who owns won't spend on bandwidth. He wanted to buy O2 but now it has been declined. So if there are many users like in London you won't still get fast download speed or line quality as the bandwidth is shared among users and there is scarcity of it.

Just to add for help after about half an hour per call over two days ended up with essential plan 4GB unlimited mins and text (not that text is really the thing nowadays) for £11 per month 30 day rolling contract. Three's 4g is probably the worst unless youre up past 1.30 in the morning. Its below average. Their 3G aint all that either
6ixFoot1
8 Jun 17 #26
To upgrade you have to call them but to change your plan you don't have to. Not sure what the difference is tbh. The changing of plan doesn't start a new contract. You just get your new allowances from you next bill date. I've done it twice already.
cannibalwombat
8 Jun 17 #28
Was that via retentions? I'd much prefer that to the deal I got (unlimited minutes/texts and 30GB data for £15 but essential plan).

Also if I'm on an essential plan, does that mean they'll charge me for any data I try to use via hotspot (i.e. laptop hooked up via WiFi), it won't come out of my allowance?
6ixFoot1
8 Jun 17 #29
No retention. Just a change of plans. I just went on live chat and asked if there were any other deals with more date they could put me on and I was offered the above.

Essential plans don't allow tethering so no hot spot. I don't think your phone will even allow you to turn hotspots on if you're on that plan. Thats how it works on the iPhone.

I'm sure if I asked, I could've got the same plan with 600mins for a pound more.

I have a legacy plan from 2012 - 300 min, 5000 txt, Unlimited data (no tethering) with Feel At Home. I'm paying £20/month for this. I tried getting an upgraded phone on the same contract a few months back, but they wouldn't offer me one as they don't offer the unlimited data plan anymore. Should I:

As I've found with other networks, I think the sales assistants just make it up as they go along. They always start off saying "oh no sir these are fixed tariffs and we can't change the allowance or price", but lo and behold, threaten to leave and they magic up cheaper and more flexible tariffs.

9 Jun 17 #49
Depends on the 4G signal strength and speed in their area. Especially with Three, the signal can be fickle. Could be a good option though, and you'd only need to buy a super cheap android handset that supports hot-spot (basically all of them nowadays) or a MiFi device. And make sure you get an Advanced plan to allow hot-spot.

Apparently HD Netflix can use up to 3GB per hour!

I made this same mistake - S7 Edge with 30GB data, UL mins/text on Three for £30pm. Already had a contract with them on other phone which I rarely used for anything but data. After two weeks of dropped calls, no cell handover while moving, texts delayed for days and 4G in the rarest of places, I managed to disconnect and port onto O2.

On paper then, great value, in reality, just don't do it...

Anyone with half a brain knows that none of the networks are perfect everywhere, you have to choose one that works the best for you for the most of the time (to save getting into a contract use a payg sim for a week before signing up, it gives you an idea)
No doubt being a clever person you already know this.

or I could just put o2 = s**t signal . which it is where I am on a daily basis.

I got this for £16 about 2 months ago from link on HUKD as a new customer, came from EE and have had no issues with signal so far. Stay in Hotels during the week and the Three 4G signal is usually better than the free Wi-Fi, enabling me to stream 1080p from Netflix and Prime with no buffering. Still OK for £18 I guess.

Admittedly I just went through Manchester Airport and while I had a great connection to the local node (woo 5 bars HSDPA) the backhaul from there was miserable (I pinged google, it took between 5 and 60 whole seconds with an average of 30 seconds). There were many hundreds of people all within a small area, possibly thousands even.

Unfortunately it's a regional problem, some areas are great, others suck. If only you could try out all the providers in your chosen areas before picking one.

Worst network EVER. My wife's phone never gets any signal at home but 3 keep on saying that there is no problem. Recently I got another contract with Tesco (O2) and she gets full signal on the same phone at home now. 3 would not cancel the contract, asking for money till November. Everyone listen... as a new customer you can waltz into a three shop pick up the our sim deals leaflet and get the purple 8gb deal or the purple 30gb deal which is half price for 6 months that's 9.50 then 19 or 14.75 for the whole year equivalent. I'm an existing customer though so will report back after I've rung three cs on monday. I want to weedle unlimited data at 16 like others have got. They asked for account proof last time I quoted others getting it. If they don't play ball I've got my 32gb ee 14.50 as a fallback. I am playing ee against them

It's a data only tariff EE offer. Normal price is £29.72 on either 30 day or 12 month. £24.60 over 24 months. Sometimes it's been offered with a further monthly price discount.
pengwyn
12 Jun 17 #106
Yes, I took it when it was on in March, it's cost me 45 which is a 4 gbp per month yearly payload. Didn't want to risk three not repeating 6 months half price on unlimited data and I was right they didn't. It's all guesswork but I need the data for football streaming. I will be kicking myself if it's back on in August. Its been on every five months or so. Basically when they lose so many customers they do a flash sale. In the future they'll lose a load of customers on the year renewal who took that 64GB for 16 glitch they might have to put it on immediately after that. I'm speculating but o visit hukd once a day

Thanks for the advice.

Spoke to Three on live chat, they said "we don't deal with upgrade/retention matters on live chat, you have to call us". Apparently this is a new thing.

Also spoke to them on the phone and they've said that "oh no sir that's not possible, there are no discounts on the 200mins/unlimited texts/30GB data Advanced package even via cancellation department, it's £22, we gave you the best deal for high data". They suggested I get 'my friend' (you) on the phone to prove it.

Is it the case that you got this tariff that's normally £22 for half price?

I'm finding them much harder to negotiate with than Vodafone always were. Vodafone retentions department always seemed to be able to apply whatever discounts, freebies etc they wanted.

Hmm. Like I said earlier and I encountered this before. The guy said they can change plans via chat but not upgrade plans so I'm not sure if it only worked for me because I was paying less and now chose to pay more (£1 more) mid contract.

I can send you a screenshot of the app showing my allowances and my next bill summary which is showing £11

Been on Chat again and they will not budge. In fact they are trying to sell me this plan for £27 a month  even though I say it is showing as £18 a month as this deal is, or on the Three website at £19 a month

Seems like Three just want to lose their customers

14 Jun 17 #112
They know that the language barrier creates haggling problems. I think I'm going to sit on my EE 32gb until they want me off my rolling by doubling the data let's say. I would take the unlimited year at 15 again with three but they will only offer it online after they've burned down their customer base significantly. Three shafted all their one plan customers, I've yet to see EE do that.

I've just got my PAC from Three today. I'm fed up of the wanky slow speeds where I work and whenever I roam on Feel At Home. Id rather pay a premium of a few quid and have an actually half decent service. The cancellation process just confirmed it for me, the call centre are absolutely horrific and I found myself really close to losing my temper with them!! Think I'm going to go to EE...

I know someone who's still on Three's One Plan and doesn't appear to get capped when he wants to tether excessively. He claims he's never been contacted by Three.

I'm surprised so many people have had bad experiences with 3s CS. I always found them really helpful. Is it because I'm a new customer?
tariq3877
16 Jun 17 #116
Bear in mind with Three there is no loyalty discount at all so over the years it's not beneficial I just left 3after years. EE has generous offers for excising customers

There is no personal hotspot on this personal hotspot is only allowed on plus plans

18 Jun 17 #118
It's a good deal; I've been on it for a while now (4 months) but, and it's a but, I came from EE (who basically laughed at me for even mentioning matching it) who were superior in calls and data/4g availability. Three hasn't let me down, nor have I felt I've missed out, but I rarely get 4g signal on the South coast. I figured it was worth a go for the cost as I buy my phones outright. it was.

18 Jun 17 #119
Not true, included on Advanced plans but not Essential plans. That said, I'm not sure how they actually restrict hotspot usage or penalize you if you use it.

I am on this plan and personal hotspot works fine.

Live chat worked best for me, call centre wouldn't budge, although I didn't go through to retentions where I'd probably have had more luck. Live chat offered me all-you-can eat-data, unlimited texts and 200 minutes for £15 after originally offering me all-you-can-eat data, unlimited texts and 600 minutes for £20. Also doesn't affect my contract term period.https://images.hotukdeals.com/comments/content/yAUrM/31268889.jpghttps://images.hotukdeals.com/comments/content/IrV69/31268889.jpghttps://images.hotukdeals.com/comments/content/F9QNR/31268889.jpg

How did you get that?!? I get nowhere with them now on that EE 32gb deal. I've got a payg SIM might try this
lightningz
23 Jun 17 #123
It was surprisingly easy, think I just got lucky! I'm on the £17 12GB, 600 mins package so I went on and explained that I'd ran out of data last month - is there anything you can do. To which he replied, and said for £3 more you can get all-you-can-eat data.

I countered and said, that's a good deal but I don't need all-you-can-eat, so don't want to pay any extra, I then got, "you're on a 12gb package, the next step is all-you-can-eat. I pointed out the website has 30gb packages. After a long pause, they came back with the offer I got.

I was on unlimited data with quidco cashback came to 14 odd. I just tried Chatbox and got nowhere. I'll keep trying but I never realised how restrictive 32gb is on EE's top deal. Maybe give EE a bell for 64gb
pengwyn
23 Jun 17 #125
Just rang EE and they offered 60gb for 20.20 on a 24 month contract. Not tried to get my paccode might try that but I don't want to go above 15 or I would go to a cheap landline deal. We will see

I am sure what they can offer is down to what the retention computer says. I have successfully got 200 minutes per month free for 3 months on my PAYG 321 sim and only had it 4 months ago.

29 Jun 17 #128
I had recently (Monday) changed my sim, as I was within the 1 month notice period.

Changed from 30gb a month, unlimited everything else for £20 a month - 12 month contract to a 12gb, 200 minutes, unlimited texts for £10 a month, 1 month rolling contract - I pretty much bit their hand off, took the deal. The next day I saw your post of 30gb, 200 minutes and unlimited texts for £11 a month, I can't recall if it was 1 month rolling, but it was a bloody good deal.

I used this against them and managed to get offered (because I was disappointed they couldn't match yours [offered £13 for yours], they escalated it to a manager and now have given me 30gb, 200 mins, and unlimited texts for £10 a month, on a 1 month rolling contract. I'm really happy with that!

Thanks for posting!

No problem.

I was surprised when they offered it to me tbh. I wasn't even interested in upgrading, just thought I'd ask coz I was bored at work.

Now I might have to ask you for a screenshot so I can get mine lowered haha

To be honest, I was really pleased with the 12gb for £10 a month rolling! But was disappointed when you were offered yours!

How did you show them the image? Sent them the link?
aymanhd
29 Jun 17 #132
I didn't, they just offered it as I was disappointed that they couldn't match or beat yours. It was escalated as a complaint (even though I said I wasn't bothered about making a complaint). I can pm you the chat transcript if you like, but I don't think you'll get anywhere as it's a good deal!
6ixFoot1
29 Jun 17 #133
Got mine reduced to £10 from £11. They couldn't view the link so wanted your number. Tried to get the same plan with 600mins for £11. Best they could do was £12 which is still a good deal but I didn't really need the mins. So just last month I had 8gb for £10 and now I got 30gb for the same!
