We used Groupon voucher similar to this, we arrived and was given a menu which had a nice large selection of food.
I noticed they had an offer on for two courses for two people at lunch for £19 so thought to myself...oh well at least I saved a £1! However when the waitress came back I said "do you need the Groupon code" and she promptly said oh you need the other menu! And there was like 60% less choice to choose from that menu!
So next time you go its best to phone and check what instore offers are on....we still like Bella Italia (one in Dudley is nicer than Solihull one) but just be careful with some Groupon deals..
Oh and spa days..if you are a regular to the massage/spa they usually do it for you cheaper than Groupon if you regularly visit (not sure why they don't just offer them at these prices in first place rather than hundreds of pounds!) As one spa centre said they still making more money than giving Groupon a percentage?!?

We all know that pocketing tips is all waiting staff really care about and so if you worked there then who do you think is more likely to tip : either somebody coming in with a prepaid discount, or somebody thats willing to pay full menu price (at those prices, then probably with more money than sense)

their normal price of £21.48pp for a starter and main seems excessive

When i worked in a restauraunt last year i really could not give a *** about tips really, i prefered if people did'nt there already paying overtop for the food, i was happy with my 7-8£ an hour, was not really hard work lol

nope no tip unless it's shrapnel for which i won't bother waiting 10 years for them to return to the table with it

I tip but only because they make it feel awkward otherwise, staff who do this need to find a new job if they think people should have to tip because they write down a order and go to the kitchen to get it for them lol

Yes, if the service is good, I will generally will tip around 10% with cash directly to the member of staff whom served me.
I know a lot of staff are told to say it, but the one thing I can't stand is when you're in the middle of eating and/or having a conversation and you get asked "Is everything OK with your food?".. This normally happens when I have a mouthful of food.

Worked as a waiter for 10years including Bella Italia. Certain restaurants attracted better quality customers who tipped for good service. Ultimately these attracted better quality staff. All the companies I worked for let you keep 100% of your tips. However you then gave 10% to the bar team and 10% to the table cleaners. Again, the more you want the better quality service you got from the bar etc.
Ultimately you get what you pay for long term.
I would be very surprised if you can't tell the difference between good and bad service.

I just bought the three courses with a glass of win for 2, for £20 @ Zizzi from BuyAgift. Much better value.

We got a similar deal from Zizzi, it was the first time I haven't finished my Pizza in a restaurant, and it was nothing to do with the quantity, it was the worst Pizza I have ever tasted
