Yet another Xiaomi Note 4 deal.
Great Phone
Good seller.

Just a bit miffed that I got a 3GB/32GB deal.

Has anybody actually made a warranty claim / sent a device for repair?
I seem to recall a few people in other threads indicating the phone would have to be posted back to China and was thus not worth having.
Having just sent an 18 month old flagship Sony phone for repair, a warranty repair service in Germany seems a much better proposition and perhaps worth the asking price.
The 'Global Version' in this deal. The 3/32GB version of it is currently around £118 from the same seller which might be better value. It has B20, so full UK network support. It will be factory sealed with Xiaomi Official Global ROM pre-installed so will have Google Play + OTA updates.

None of the listings from that seller appear to be the same as the phone in this deal Redmi Note 4 Prime Deca core = Original China Note 4 Mediatek Redmi Note 4X Pro Snapdragon = China Note 4X Snapdragon
This phone = Different country release (not China), is called Note 4 like original China Mediatek, but is Snapdragon like China Note 4X. Also has band 20 which neither of the above 2 have, hence "Global Version".
Here is the confusing part... in China the Note 4X 3/32GB is Snapdragon but the Note 4X 4/64GB is Mediatek. If you look at the official China Mi site Redmi Note 4X product page, the specs change when you switch between 3/32GB and 4/64GB. If you search Aliexpress for "Redmi Note 4X 64GB", the results are all Mediatek deca core listings. There isn't a Snapdragon 4/64GB that is called Note 4X but the 2nd eBay is advertising it as that when it should only be the Global Version Note 4 that is Snapdragon with 4/64GB variant. If you search again on Aliexpress, but for "Note 4 Snapdragon 64GB", all of the results are 'Global Version' with B20
So there's 3 possibilities if you ordered the 4/64GB Note 4X Snapdragon 625 from the 2nd link above:
1 - It is is wrongly advertised for band support and name, and you will receive the same phone in this deal which is named Note 4 with B20 (not Note 4X without B20 as advertised in eBay listing)
2 - The seller has incorrectly assumed that the Note 4X 4/64GB version is just the same Snapdragon 625 as the Note 4X 3/32GB but with more ram/storage, but instead you will receive a Mediatek Note 4X which is what the 4/64GB should be.
3 - This is a new Note 4X 4/64GB variant from another region and the info is correct and is Snapdragon but no B20.
Either way I don't think it's worth the approx £70 additional cost especially when a 4/64GB version with that name/spec doesn't appear to exist so it's unclear what it's supposed to be.

I have had both the p2 and this phone, this has better audio through the headphone Jack, better reception, recent security updates as opposed to the p2 and for those who care, glass protectors cover the actual screen size (not the curved edges) unlike glass protectors on the p2 which exhibit a distracting effect on either side of the display due to there being a gap at either side of the display that does not connect with the screen protectors. The p2 has a nicer screen but it's marginal as the xiaomi screen is pretty decent. Battery life wasn't that different in my use between them maybe another 2 hours screen on time between them. 10-12 on the xiaomi (sometimes 14) and 12-14 hours screen on time on the p2. Preferred the xiaomi personally but can understand choosing the p2 if warranty is a concern for some.

Did you choose the 64GB option? If so I suggest cancelling. It's confusing but RN4X 32GB = Snapdragon (same as RN4 Global) but RN4X 64GB = Mediatek (same as original RN4). More info here<<. Given that they are separate options on that AE listing, it must mean that the RN4X 64GB is slight different that the Snapdragon RN4X 32GB which would be the same as the Global Version RN4 (both 32GB or 64GB). It's a confusing mess.

Thanks,
I went for one of these from AliExpress in the end.
Yeah, that will fit the phone in this deal. See here<< . Same case from an AliExpress seller. The Note 4X option says "Note4X is Note4 Global" and they state it again in the description multiple times. Just ensure it's 'Note 4X' and not only '4X' because there's also a smaller 5.0" Redmi 4X phone.

I don't think there's anyone in UK selling it. Probably 2-3 weeks is the usual estimate but it can vary. Some stores on AliExpress sell it too but would likely take around the same amount of time to arrive. If you want one from UK, the Nilkin flip case on Amazon is an alternative but I'm unsure if this has a plastic window or not and it would cost half as much on Banggood (from China).

A plastic window. Here's an unboxing video of the same case. If you're wondering why the packaging for it says Redmi Note 4 on the back rather than Note 4X, it's because the Indian RN4 also has the same updated housing like RN4X and Global Version RN4, so their local official accessories will be labelled for RN4. At about 2:06 you can see the top showing IR blast on right.
memyhead
21 May 17#82
Thank you. Do you know if the official one has a kind of plastic window covering the viewing area or is it just an open cut out with the phone being directly exposed? Hard to tell from pics...
dreadzone101
21 May 171#81
The Global Version Redmi Note 4 shares the same updated housing as the 'Redmi Note 4X' (IR on right) so search for that instead when looking for cases as those will have the correct hole placement, whereas listings that just say 'Redmi Note 4' will almost always be for the original housing (IR in middle). Redmi Note 4X flipcase listing showing the correct hole placement. Xiaomi has an official flipcase too.

Makes interesting reading, not great service!! Paying on a credit card is always a good idea, but this doesn't change the fact that you may well still have to send it back to China for repair first, If the phone breaks I doubt the card company will just pay up without the retailer trying to repair the phone first.

Now I need to explain to my wife why I'm selling my 3 month old Redmi Note 3 Pro! Does anyone know if the AOSP ROMs for the 3GB/32GB Note 4 will be compatible with this phone? Is there a firmware file to flash on top of AOSP to enable band 20?
Comes out at £141 after removing the extra warranty. After hovering for a while I pulled the trigger on this one. I believe a third more memory and double the storage was worth the extra £24 over the 3/32 version.

I'd say when it comes to the target local audience for a specific release, the different versions aren't relevant so it wouldn't be as confusing but for a worldwide market, with no option of obtaining it locally, the various different versions that are tailored for specific regions, make it really confusing since there are so many. I think there's now 6 different variations of Note 4/4X

If you don't want it change your destination country to something other than U.K. I choose US, once it's in the shopping cart you can change the destination country back. If I was spending say £200+ on a phone that didn't have the reputation of Xiaomi I'd probably select the warranty - believe it's a German based company that does the work, saves sending it to China.

Aliexpress free delivery uses 'Royal Mail signed for' once it arrives in the U.K. - this service doesn't offer tracking, just needs signed for on delivery. Agree it's odd, you can track if half way across the world, but once Royal Mail got there hands on it, it disappears.

Am still waiting for Xiaomi Online to process my new order for my wofe, from Friday just gone, they said they would send prioroty but still no sign of being despatched.
Also Tracking is a bit wierd, once it was bound for Uk it took 3 or 4 days to show that it was in the UK then next I know it's been delivered, so no further tracking from arrival in UK until it was at my doorstep. Still chuffed to bits as this replaced my expensive but ultimately disappointing dead Galaxy Note 4 which barely lasted 2 years.

Three, £209.99 with £10 credit if you're not a three customer, if you are, can go to a shop and you'll get it for £199.99. tbh, all they asked me for was my three number and didn't check anything else, so can just use somebody else's. Three sell their phones unlocked.

I don't think the price will drop unless it's special promotion or a Black Friday deal.

happened to anyone else?
when I click on my appeal link in the email they sent, it gives error
you got this phone?
Am still waiting for Xiaomi Online to process my new order for my wofe, from Friday just gone, they said they would send prioroty but still no sign of being despatched.
Also Tracking is a bit wierd, once it was bound for Uk it took 3 or 4 days to show that it was in the UK then next I know it's been delivered, so no further tracking from arrival in UK until it was at my doorstep. Still chuffed to bits as this replaced my expensive but ultimately disappointing dead Galaxy Note 4 which barely lasted 2 years.
...it also goes through the £200 price mark which then does not make it a super cheap well specced phone...for me anyway :stuck_out_tongue:
2 hours screen time is quite a lot but when you have a starting point of 10 hours, it's not that bad
surprising that you find this has better phone reception than p2 - is that on three?
Both good value phones though.
Three, £209.99 with £10 credit if you're not a three customer, if you are, can go to a shop and you'll get it for £199.99. tbh, all they asked me for was my three number and didn't check anything else, so can just use somebody else's. Three sell their phones unlocked.
Currently 26 hours off charge, 2 hrs 50 mins screen on time, and still on 70% battery
£11
At this price you might as well get the p2 for £50 more where you get a 25% bigger battery, AMOLED screen, quick delivery, and a usable warranty in case anything goes wrong
