Finally - someone speaking sense. Seen so many decent threads go cold due to voters not taking the deal in to consideration, only their opinions

Mate this isn't about your personal view of the TV it's about The Deal - is it a good price compared to other sellers.
Hence I stated cheapest online price I can find is £999 and this is £123 cheaper!

Could not find a specific technical specification on Sony Website saying it was 10 bit.
However, if you look at what 8bit and 10bit actually mean in terms of colour the following should help.
Sony’s later 4K TVs feature the brand’s own Triluminos technology - a combination of processing and wide colour phosphors - to deliver much more dynamic and subtle colours than you get with normal TV colour systems. This helps get more detail out of the screens’ 4K resolution, and is perfectly suited for high dynamic range playback.
This would suggest better than standard 8bit colour.

I know you are trying to help, but the information about 'Triluminos' is just marketing and doesn't answer the question.
I would also like to definitively know if it is 8 or 10 bit...

i bought an expensive sony tv in 2010, and compared it to a 2015 samsung top rated tv, sony won!
says it all really; you are not just paying for the badge, you're paying for it lasting its lifetime without deterioration, faults, and performance!
Otherwise keep buying cheap tv's that you'll need to replace every 2-3 years.

Even discounted it's a lot of money for TV that's not 10bit. With a bit of digging there's likely to be better TVs for the money

Agree. It would need to be less than half this before I'm tempted. If Hisense can do it so can Sony. COLD

Hisense 55M7000 or this? I know the sizes are different....what would it be for value for money against quality/features?
