Alot of Curved TV's being reduced. Not surprised to be honest!

What's the general consensus on curved TV's? I'm a bit out of the loop, are they considered a fad or are they actually any good?

It's last years stock clearance so you'll see more details even on flat ones. But yeah only Samsung is/has released 2017 curved tvs.

Curved is being obsolete hence the price drops..
It was just a marketing trick,a gimmick to boost declining TV sales 2 years ago.
no real benefit except style.

They are supposed to be good if your sat in the sweet spot directly in front and more immersive for gaming, but for a family room, the idea is that a flat panel offers better angles.. I always thoguh they are stupid for wall mounting though.

The massive lag on TVs + the pitiful performance of consoles means even a curved TV isn't going to immerse me.

yeah, I also think so

Depends, I have a KS7000 with HDR enabled i still get 23MS of lag which is pretty good, but yes PC you can get 2-3ms lag, playing something like bloodborne on a 55" TV cannot really be emulated on a PC.. horses for courses.

Not that i dislike them particularly but just noticed they seem to be getting reduced more than flat. But they are niche and understand why they exist. But i do think more for gaming. And then certain forms of that!

I think they are a Fad, like 3d tv's were a few years ago.. Look silly mounted on the wall with bad viewing angles. Only time a curved screen has really worked is in a Cinema 180 usually found at theme parks in the 1980's.

I love my 3D TV. It's no more of a fad than, say, someone buying a breadmaker

It really depends on individual circumstance. How close and if your viewing with others. And if the TV is is central to viewing position etc or in a corner. So many variables. But not for me on any level. Although saying that, i won't be going 4k below 65" anyway.

FAD!, these are a gimmick for those who are just attractive to the newest thing out right now. the viewing angle is shiyt so only the person directly infront of it gets to see anything, if you have people looking at the TV from a angle they'll find it ****.

Yes but you'll be paying more than double for 10 bit HDR and a lot of people dont care to pay a premium for those features. This is a very decent telly with the warranty

I was looking at a 4K curved Samsung in Currys yesterday. Beautiful picture. £3,000.00. But the curved screen did my head in. Very odd thing to look at.

Not surprised curved TV's are being reduced, I had a Samsung 40" JU6500 a couple of years ago and it had terrible clouding on it. We watch films in a darkened room and the clouding was awful, we watched 'The Hateful 8' and couldn't tell where the clouding ended and the image began it was that bad. I contacted Samsung on numerous occasions and they kept saying, and this is no word of a lie, "it was acceptable if you watched it in the dark". The picture quality in daylight was incredible, best I've ever seen, in fact, I sold it to a work colleague and set it up for him in his room and it was superb, he hasn't noticed any clouding on it, but, it is a light room and he never watches in a darkened room. For this reason I would never touch a Curved TV again and probably not Samsung.

I think they need to be considered in the round..

What's ironic is that big TVs traditionally had to go in the corner of a room due to the enormous protrusion at the back. Flat screens did away with this and brought in wall mounting. Now that curved are "in" the only place they really work is back in the corner....

Anybody aware of any deals on the flat equivalent of this?
I'm after a TV with Freesat built in (which this has), as we don't get Freeview in the area, but reading above I think I want to avoid curved.

3 HDMI???? If it had 4 then I would snap it up but once you added your consoles and virgin box you ran out and have none spare. TV's should come with a minimum of 4 these days with the amount of dongles and stuff we use in a modern society
