It wasnt free delivery, it was standard delivery and is only €5.77 . It sounds like you have bought it from a 3rd party and not Amazon.

If the tracking has todays date then go by that, tracking and Amazons own info are not always in sync.

Is anyone here able to help? I've ordered this phone and the order suggests it'll be delivered tomorrow. However the tracking suggests the parcel is still in Italy...is this usually behind? I'm just wondering if anyone else's had the same tracking status whilst waiting for the delivery like this. Cheers in advance.

Youve done something wrong, are you sure youve ordered it with basic standard delivery as its still £538.75 using Amazons own rate. and it was actually a few £ cheaper earlier.

Just a warning for any other dumbasses like myself. I don't have a fee-free card, but thought "how bad can it be" and just put this on my bog standard Virgin MasterCard (MMSE said MasterCard had better rates than my Amex or Visa GENERALLY). Bought the phone the last time the deal was on Amazon.it (few weeks ago). Arrived yesterday.

Mine arrived yesterday, largely happy except wifi keeps dropping out, even on different networks. I saw this was an issue that there was a software fix for.

My question is I assume this phone ships with the Italian version of the firmware on, is it worth me reflashing it to the UK firmware using Odin?

Would i lose everything that I've installed (i.e. clean slate) or will just the phone software be affected? Is there any advantages to me reflashing the phone to the UK firmware?

So you would have been better using Amazons own rate at £538.85 . You can still Apply for a Halifax Clarity fee free card and also get £20 credit when using abroad.That would have made this deal even sweeter.

Sweet, and everything works just fine? No problems using the UK sim and nothing iffy on the phone itself (e.g. bloatware)? And is there any TiM branding on the back of the phone?

Mine was delivered yesterday charged £544 (or 23£ per month over a 2 year contract) including delivery very happy!

Coupled with a 9£ three sim the total cost for 2 years = £760. It beats anything the UK can offer directly.

A fee free card is a credit card that doesnt charge fees for foreign use . Most credit cards will charge 3% and maybe a further nominal charge on top such as £1.50.
An example of a fee free card is the Halifax clarity card but there are others available.

Interesting one this. I emailed customer services about this. They said phone warranty was off the imei and proof of purchase was not required. As the s8 was so young there could be no doubt about warranty.

No, just tech savvy. I've owned several android phones in the past which required user display correction (Older Xperia phones) so it's not a big deal to me. Again. I'll reiterate that Samsung should have checked and calibrated these screens before passing QC.

Ironic that you should mention the S7 Edge as these do suffer from poor deign / quality issues and many users (one of my friends included) have a line of pink pixels down the side of the screen. :neutral_face:
Unlike the S8 this can not be corrected by software

no nits not once you try adjust color all screen will be wash out from color . you should read first about this fault

samsung fanboy or what ? faulty means faulty i had 5 of this devices and all more or less faulty.

i have also s7 edge no problem like this so they for sure seling faulty display phones :smiley:

So if I used an o2/gifgaff sim, wifi calling wouldn't work in the U.K? I've never had an android and unsure what "flashing firmware" is... all in all how difficult would it be? Really don't want to pass on this deal and cancel my order but I'm unsure.

s7 edge has pink line , s8 has pink where should be white. its diffrent problem.

I'm going to wait until Samsung have sold all the initial batch and there are no more stories of badly colour-tinged screens; people are reporting that the colour settings can't compensate enough.

Samsung's European warranty is two year EU/EEA wide one.
They don't offer a UK warranty as such on any phone...

do you HAVE to do this to get wifi calling? I ordered from Amazon.it a week ago and got the phone today. It is fully unlocked with no TIM branding (as i didn't order from this deal, it was another amazon.it one).

I would love to get wifi calling, just worried flashing this firmware. Is there anything i need to be aware of, if i try to flash it? For example, what if i am on a higher firmware than the one posted on the website?

You should get a 2 year EU directive derived warranty, which Amazon (DE) have honoured for me in the past for electronics goods.

Yes I know the s7 was a pain but with the s8 it's the adaptive display that was the issue was it not? Over compensating. I thought a software update fixed it. I don't have the phone just going on what I read.

EU SIM only for activation and need to call 5min from any approved EU carrier. after that it's unlocked for anywhere.. :smile:

This is because Samsung region lock their phones. They have been doing it for years. The way it's worked in the past is that the first sim used in the device must be of the correct region (European in this case) and must be used to make or receive a call of at least 5 mins, after that it becomes unlocked and any regions sims can be used.

Brilliant phone but ruined with unlocking. One of the most commonly used parts of a phone and its just horrible on this.

Got mine. Said European sim only. So although it's fine when here, when travelling abroad and not using a European sim, it may be a bummer! Lucky if you're going to a 3 feel at home country

Mine (S8 plus) arrived in a proper sim free box with no carrier markings on box or phone start up. Also default sim free apps installed. Received OTA update straight away too. You've been unlucky.

yes, Tim bloat but I flashed the h3g firmware which gives the three boot logo, WiFi calling and volte.

Yup TIM is a provider in Italy so probably locked to them, used to be on Ferrari f1 cars and ducati motogp bikes
