Bought one of these Italian jobbies. Will leave it as-is unless the Italian logo and/or bloatware annoys me.
Delivery timeframe is an annoyance but worth the £150+ discount vs UK shops.
Would rooting / flashing it with the aforementioned Odin image taken from (as I understand it) a UK Three phone invalidate the Samsung warranty ?
Is there an image for rooting out there which is a bog-standard UK S8 image without being related to a carrier ?

Mine arrived yesterday, largely happy except wifi keeps dropping out, even on different networks. I saw this was an issue that there was a software fix for.
My question is I assume this phone ships with the Italian version of the firmware on, is it worth me reflashing it to the UK firmware using Odin?
Would i lose everything that I've installed (i.e. clean slate) or will just the phone software be affected? Is there any advantages to me reflashing the phone to the UK firmware?
Thanks!

Azurren
29 May 17#91
No, just tech savvy. I've owned several android phones in the past which required user display correction (Older Xperia phones) so it's not a big deal to me. Again. I'll reiterate that Samsung should have checked and calibrated these screens before passing QC.
Ironic that you should mention the S7 Edge as these do suffer from poor deign / quality issues and many users (one of my friends included) have a line of pink pixels down the side of the screen. Unlike the S8 this can not be corrected by software

Azurren to rdecoratorUK
29 May 17#89
There is a variance in colour temperature with these screens. The standard "one calibration fits all" which works fine for most screens leave some S8 phones with a very slight red hue.
Samsungs update to allow users to marginally calibrate their own screens completely fixes this issue. Due to the manufacturing process no two quad HD are the same, trying to shoe-horn them all into the same colour gamut with the same calibration was an error on Samsungs part. Really for the price they're charging they should be calibrating each screen before shipping.

This is because Samsung region lock their phones. They have been doing it for years. The way it's worked in the past is that the first sim used in the device must be of the correct region (European in this case) and must be used to make or receive a call of at least 5 mins, after that it becomes unlocked and any regions sims can be used.
