Seems good value for spec. These are customer returns from Tesco. Tesco currently selling new ones for £239 so a saving of £60 can be had. Reviews state most seem brand new.
4GB ram, 500gb HDD

To be used for myself I would not touch it with a barge pole for any price. Frustratingly slow ???

You might find that your mobile phone might be even faster then this ..
What are you expecting a laptop with dual core processor 1.80GHz installed with windows 10?? This should be installed with windows XP to match the CPU performance ...
Not the correct CPU, at least get your facts right if you're giving out (incorrect) information...

Peops a good deal, don't get me wrong. But please to improve your own user experience spend some of the money saved on a memory upgrade

god that would be so slow. its pretty much a mobile phone connected to a big screen.
an AMD processor with 4GB ram and windows 10. it would be like pulling teeth when you consider all the bloatware HP likes to add on.

Obviously cheap, but 4GB RAM and a HDD? And that processor? I'd save up for something better.

i cannot imagine it would be.
most newer hp laptops have around 10 screws on the bottom casing and then you simply remove the bottom and the hard drive is held in by another 4 screws.
but then you will need to either clone the original hard drive to your ssd or create a bootable uefi usb to reinstall windows.
but putting that all aside i have to ask myself..... WHY!
Why would you want to purchase such a useless spec laptop and upgrade it with a ssd ?
makes no sence
Hi - computer novice here.....would this be ok just for Windows / office tasks at home please? No gaming etc......
Would it take ages to start up, like my current Dell?!?
Thanks v much for any advice....

A disk cleanup, disabling startup items and a desktop cleanup might save you a few hundred quid

The price itself is decent but not a deal as there are few sellers sell it for £169
