This deal is for a petrol grass trimmer from argos. I had a bit of a look around homebase, b&q etc and came across this one. I'm sure its not the greatest product in the world but hopefully it'll do my job. It appears to be £40 cheaper in argos than it is elsewhere (homebase and amazon at least).
The description from argos is:
The 29.9cc Qualcast petrol grass trimmer is a multi-functional must have for any gardener. Lightweight, low vibration and a soft grip 2 handled design makes this grass trimmer comfortable and easy to use.
All Qualcast garden power products and pressure washers include a FREE 2 year guarantee when bought from Argos. So whether it is a lawnmower that you use weekly or a hedge trimmer that you use occasionally, you have the peace of mind that with Qualcast, the product is built to last.

Overprices Junk get yourself one of these had one for 3 years now use it twice a month no issues , much cheaper more powerful too
Qualcast is argos own brand so you won't find it any where else, unless Homebase have a few left after they were bought out. From what's been said on here the stuff is supposed to be ok but don't think it's the qualcast of old it's just a licensed name now.

Correct - qualcast today has no comparison to the old company except to say it is infinitely worse and it was never all that to begin with.
Buy a second hand Stihl if you can find one on Ebay as most probably won't post out. You should be able to get one for the kind of money you have, and avoid the bent shaft strimmers like the plague!
Straight shaft runs with a solid bar and a gearbox, bent shaft is a speedo cable and requires stripping down & lubricating every season if you want it to last.
The cheapest Stihl straight shaft is £200 brand new, so you should be able to find a good used one for around £100, and it will last you a lifetime - not just a couple of seasons !
