Doh, i may need to chop my psu if I want to fit this.. Decisions decisions..

Be aware it has a backplate which may foul the memory slot clips on an mATX motherboard with 4 memory slots. It is also slightly wider than 2 slots. I got this card in the Amazon Warehouse 20% sale and very pleased with it so far.

Sorry its a bit of a weird question but, how close are the fans against the heat sink?
I'm thinking i can chop bit of the prong lifting it and get a few extra mm.

I loved that sale- all the naysayers may complain about the Warehouse sales but picked up a GTX 1070 as "Used-Like New" for £279 so really can't complain with that.

exact same. Got it for £160 very good condition from Amazon Warehouse. Great card, perfect for 1080p budget build. Goes great with my Oc'd Ryzen 1600.

Oh dear- nice they are sending a replacement though. Usually they refund so they must have had more in stock. What model did you get and what price?
ScarboroughKID
17 May 17#9
They're not. I've ordered a new one to see whether its the card or something with my system, as it's a new build. I imagine the same model as you, Palit Dual. I seem to recall it was £279 after the 20%. They had a founders edition at £320 after the discount but they weren't willing to price match as a suitable replacement.

17 May 17#10
How did you convince them to send you a replacement, Amazon only do refunds against Warehouse deals, and I know as I've had many, many, many problems with them.

Don't remind me. Worst bit is Amazon knocked a further 20% off for me as they ignored my instructions to 'Dispatch in Amazon box', so the actual card should have cost me £214 if it worked :disappointed:
chapchap
17 May 17#14
Yes that's right- a Palit Dual. Pretty basic, but works well enough, and as it is slightly smaller than other 1070s it fits my case nicely.
In my new build last year it the 2 (1 was a replacement) rx 380s caused system crashes but then went to a 970 and it was 100% stable. And the same with the 1070 it is 100% stable. Hope that means your system doesn't have an version to 1070s as mine does (seemingly) with rx 380s.
chapchap
17 May 17#15
Interesting that is- where do you tell them to "Dispatch in Amazon box" as i can't see where you can when ordering? If they don't that seems like a nice little way for a further discount

17 May 17#18
It says on the item page 'This item's packaging will indicate what is inside. To cover it, select Dispatch in Amazon box on the checkout page.' I did this and they didn't do it and basically just slapped a royal mail label on the item box.

I am right in thinking it's a single 8pin power socket? I know some 1070s are dual 8 pins, and although I've searched even square cm of the card part of me thinks I'm just being thick :man:

Great price for a really great mid range card.
Also, there seems to be a lot of people coming into threads talking about how much they paid for used stock on amazon warehouse, yet, there seems to be a ton of problems with this stock... Why is that a common thing? It's like a humble brag or something?
Of course you can buy a used card for 10-20% cheaper.

In the last Warehouse sale i picked up a GTX 1070 as "Used-Like New" for £279. It works like a charm and was very cheap to boot. Previous cards bought via Warehouse have been rock stable and cheap too.
I will keep posting examples of my good luck so don't worry about that.

Great price, to chirp in on the Amazon Warehouse Sale, bought three cards, 1 x RX 480 8GB - Came, displayed but couldn't be recognised by Windows / AMD drivers, then 2 x RX 470, one of which had a totally non-operational fan, the sensor gave realistic readings and responded to manual changes, but he fan didn't move at all. The good RX 470, for 130, is a steal. Well worth the hassle of a few returns to get cards at a good price. Hope everyone continues to have good fortune on their purchases.

RX480 or RX580 if you can afford. Both better
Uncommon.Sense
18 May 17#39
1060 and RX480/580 are for what it's worth pretty much the same card now in terms of price to performance, which at the end of the day in this segment is all that matters.
When the 470's and 480's were around £150 then they were the absolute clear choice, for price to performance as the 3GB 1060 was £200 minimum, and the 6GB was £230, and you were spending £50-80 to gain a few frames in one game, and lose a few in another.

18 May 17#40
This deal is for a 1060 for £196.99. You can get a 580 for £189.96 from ebuyer. Good bit more performance for less £
Uncommon.Sense
18 May 17#41
It's not though for all intents and purposes they are the same, it's pretty much 50/50, one cards does better in one game, the other card does better in a different title, and like most people on here I'm not going to niggle about the 4GB RAM on the RX 580, since it's not that big of a deal unless you are playing above 1440p.
So yes, for the sake of £7 you are correct is it is cheaper, but it's not a good bit more performance, it's squeaky marginal better price/performance.

RX480 has similar price to 970, will have to check this. Just worried about ADM... have bad memories ....
shkapars
18 May 17#43
rx 580 just have very high clocks out of the box, what makes it pull ahead on benchmarks over 1060.
Only downside is a lot higher power consumptions then 1060 and barely overcloks, as its already runs at the edge of max clocks.
I would still prefer 1060 over rx480/580 as long as you not afraid to move core and memory sliders up a bit for extra performance gain.

Main consideration I'd argue is have you picked up a cheap freesync panel in recent months :stuck_out_tongue: Other than that there's nothing between them overall.

Are you using the Chrome browser? I saw similar issues on some websites - I simply disabled the hardware acceleration in Chrome and no more black flashing. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the card BIOS, NVidia drivers or Chrome itself as I didn't see the problem in any other browser.
