We've been using the Aldi version, Norpak. They changed the recipe a while back, so now it's closer in flavour to Lurpak.

Some good alternatives out there but for the extra 25p or so I'd always take the real thing :smile:

Not the best price it can be ASDA do 1Kg Tubs for £3.25 sometimes.. but £4.00 for 2x 500g is a good price.

Do they have the unsalted in Tesco Express stores? OH goes there to pick up the paper every morning but I would need to go out of my way for a proper store.

We only stock the normal and lighter in my express and OH store too. But they are £2 each, not 2 for £4 :smiley:

Got some news for you, products sold in Aldi are manufactured by the same facilities that manufacture for every other supermarket.

I work professionally in the food industry specifically in NPD taking products from concept to full scale production for all major supermarkets.

Which is only your opinion, not fact. I too have also shopped at every other supermarket and for me Aldi's fresh meat, fruit and veg is better, both in value and in taste.

Plenty other items that are cheaper and better too.

If you add lurpak to your waitrose card to receive 20% off, when it's 2for £4 In there it takes 20% off full price per tub + current offer discount , that's when I stock up hopefully might help someone on here :smile:

Loseley Summer Meadow Naturally Softer Butter is only £1 in Asda for 250g so works out the same price per kg as Lurpak, spreads from the fridge and has no rapeseed or palm oils present, just a little added salt.

Wow, that's uncalled for! I have to say that having. Tried the different supermarkets a couple of years ago for an article a friend was writing, I found that in both Aldi and Lidl, there were some items that were just as good, if not better than the other supermarkets. Morrisons scored particularly poorly against them both. Personally, when I have time I shop around. Some things I get from Waitrose or Marks others from Aldi or Lidl. OK the environment can sometimes not be as inviting but hey ho.

If you check the labels I believe the Lurpak uses rapeseed oil but the Lidl and Aldi ones used to use palm oil which damages the environment and isn't as healthy. Not checked for a while but know that used to be the case.

You'll find there's been research on seed oils and guess what....they not as good for you as real 100% butter
