Completely different technology. This is OLED. Hisense is Smart LED. Smart LED is basically glorified LCD just with per pixel backlighting. You're still hampered by LCD panel technology such as poor contrast ratio and viewing angles. OLED is far superior when it comes to picture quality. This is easily one of the best TVs for the money around right now. The only set in my opinion that comes close is the Samsung KS models but with that you're still going to fall foul of the trappings of LCD technology where true blacks are impossible with some dimwitted backlight response. Side by side the OLED55B6V just looks better. Blacks are actually black (because the OLEDs are actually turned off) whites are truly white (once calibrated, it does have a tendency to go towards blue spectrum on the colour temperature out of the box, but it's easily fixed).

Also 3D is dead. Fewer and fewer TVs are supporting it. It's only a matter of time before it disappears back into obscurity.

LSTV150A can only be used for Home Delivery orders only. Voucher is applied fairly late on in the checkout process. One user mentioned they were able to get a sales rep to apply the code instore. Seeing as the code isn't published on the Currys site John Lewis are unable to pricematch. Because of this the chance of getting a member of staff to honor the code instore is fairly slim. Currys deliver weekends if being home to receive the order is a problem......

There was an issue with 4k HDR Blu Ray stuttering at 24p, but that was corrected by a firmware update. The motion on my TV has been great since then, with no issues. I have all Tru Motion etc. turned off and it's fine, whether watching movies, football, F1 etc. It's fluid, with no stuttering at all.

Not had much experience with Richer Sounds. I am near Yeovil, not particularly local to any stores.....Exeter/Bristol are 30 miles. Would I have a better chance phoning a store to try and price match the Currys offer like Yiddo4life & lala123 has or phoning general sales and trying? John Lewis were unable to price match due to LSTV150A not being publicised on Currys website...

The B6 has lowest input lag for gaming in the 2016 OLED range at 27.5ms also higher peak brightness due to the removal of 3D polarisation filter. Bought one when they went to £1,599.00 and have no regrets spectacular telly for the price. I primarily use for gaming while using headphones although the speakers are plenty good enough for general viewing. There isn't a single 3D film I'd particularly want to own either so it was an easy purchase.

If you want to get technical each OLED is it's own light source. The pixel is an organic light emitting diode. That's not the point I was making, just that Smart LED is not LED it's an LCD screen with a backlight, just like previous LCD TVs which have on the whole been terrible compared to alternative technologies such as Plasma.

I should mention I have this TV myself, have had it since November last year and it's by far the best TV I've ever had and ever seen even looking at newer models in the shops I cannot see those as being any improvement over my set. My TV biased towards blue before calibration. So it's most likely down to the individual TVs themselves as to what bias you have.

Can definitely back up your point about the depth though. The infinite blacks are the biggest eye-popping feature of this screen. Once you iron out the wrinkles at the top end by calibrating so that white is actually white. With HDR enabled content, night scenes just pop. Day scenes are like looking through a portal. It's insane. It doesn't look like there's a TV there anymore. Like looking through a window. The Grand Tour and Mad Max Fury Road are particularly good examples of HDR done right.

Wasn't too keen on a curve but having checked the C6V out, the curve is so slight it won't bother me at all.

Got a 65C6V on order when it was £2699 using the £150 code down to £2549. Delayed delivery until 20th so I'll still be in 14 day return window in case they drop them a load over the coming bank holiday.

Back to this TV though and I have a friend with one who is very happy with it and you won't likely get one much cheaper.

Just put the delivery for over a weeks time to cover yourself for any potential price drops over BH.
CASFAN73
12 May 17 1 #41
I really didn't want a curved screen, which ruled out the C6 for me. The PQ on my B6 is fantastic and I honestly haven't noticed it to be any worse than on my E6 (which I had for around a month and even ran side by side with the B6). The E6 has the same SOC as the C6. LG have suggested that there's no reason why their full 2016 range will not get HLG. The B6 is actually the best selling 2016 LG OLED by some margin, so I'd say that it would be unlikely that they would ignore that, even if it requires some additional coding for a different SOC.

We only need to look at the fantastic post launch support that they have given to the B6 so far. LG actually came to my house on 3 or 4 occasions with some guys from Korea, to sort out an issue that was happening with Netflix DV content being messed up. They have also added in the new HDR game mode so that 4K HDR games can be played at low latency.

12 May 17 1 #40
The M7000 uses local backlight dimming which dims the LED backlight in zones. That's very different to 'per pixel dimming' which is what OLED gives you. I.e. each pixel has its own light source.
The B6V has a push towards green with an un-calibrated white balance too (ISF Expert modes), not blue.

I've had my B6V for about a month now and it is by far the best TV I've owned in terms of PQ. That's comparing calibrated displays too (Panasonic VT30 plasma & CX802b LED LCD for example). It gives the naturalness of plasma but with a much more 3D presentation to the images. The picture has so much depth because of the 'infinite contrast ratio' true black gives. That'll be the first thing you notice coming from any other display technology and they're all inferior if PQ is your primary concern.
That's a bit of a generalisation. Certain displays have issues with banding if they're fed content with a higher bit depth but, that's the same with certain native 10 bit displays too. I've not checked whether my B6v suffers from this as my sources can all be configured to output 10 bit per channel or less, so I've no need to. If it does, potential buyers will need to be careful with the choice of their source kit. Although, I believe even the 'troublesome' Panasonic UHD BD players can output at 10 bit per channel now?!
It's also worth mentioning that any display can suffer from banding if the content isn't particularly high quality or is compressed to death. There's a lot of that type of content out there.

Great TV. I bought the 65" at launch and it's been a stunning TV. I had the E6 before it (but returned it due to banding) and prefer the simple styling of the B6 if I'm honest. The under TV speaker on the E6 is OK, but not great and typically folk buying these TVs will also invest in a decent quality sound system as well. 3D is good on the E6 (if that's important), but to me it's a bit of a gimmick and wasn't really important.

The B6 has improved vastly with regard to several firmware updates (I worked with LG on the 4K HDR 24p stutter issue and that was solved a few months back) and now has low latency game modes and HDR game modes (around 24 ms).

There are still some uniformity issues on some panels (typically some minor vignetting, usually on the right - mine has some of this, but it is minor and rarely noticeable in content) and vertical banding (thankfully mine has none of this), but for less than £1500 this is a cracking TV.
Jaybeam to CASFAN73
12 May 17 #37
I'm torn between b6 and the c6 - not because of 3 d but from reading up on both it appears the c6 with lg own soc the pq is marginally better and may get HLG update. Not that keen to be honest buying from Currys though

I'm sure the c6 will drop to £1499 again soon. If you can sign up to perkbox just before (around £5 a month, cancel any time) as you get 8% off currys/pc world vouchers. Combined with your 10% and current voucher and you'll have practically stole it

12 May 17 #29
For HDR i've read that 10bit is better than 8bit. On the RS website it has this tv as " 10 bit (8 bit + FRC) " which from what I can tell is an 8bit panel which is is up-scaled? to show 10bit. Is it not best to just buy a TV that is pure 10bit HDR or doesn't it really matter?
jaydeeuk1 to Kryton
12 May 17 1 #31
Human eye won't be able to tell the difference between 8bit + FRC and 10 bit, although might be noticeable on certain shades of green depending on how well its implemented. 8bit is susceptible to banding if source material is 10bit or more, FRC helps mitigate that and on 4k streams from amazon or netflix due to compression used it won't look any worse than a true 10 bit screen.

Love it on my LG.

Watched the martian last night on my cheapo 55uh850, absolutely amazing. I'm actually annoyed that 3d was pushed 5 years too early on sh*tty 1080p screens, if it was launched now on these 4k sets it would have taken off.

Quidco's T's & C's for Currys states: 'Cashback will not be paid in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or discount code unless listed on this page, or with any other discounts such as staff or student discounts'.
