First of all, good price for a wireless inkjet! Only downside is ink cost but supports HP Instant Ink & includes 2 months free! Good price - hopefully helps a student or someone who does a bit of printing looking for a good cheap printer without having to deal with wires or other scanners etc...
You can also use code 'FREEINK' for an extra month's of HP Instant Ink. If you enter referral code 'gzzl8' when you register for HP Instant Ink you may get another month of ink.

Until we stop treating printers as 'disposable', and they start selling ink in bottles, then this is a good deal as far as I'm concerned. I know how much it's going to cost me, have several months of free printing at 300 pages per month, then will pay £1.99 a month after that. What's not to like? Much cheaper than my old Epson. If anyone still wants an extra month's code then try hvztZ.

It's a good deal. Got one of the HP deals few months ago. Zero issues with print quality. 6 months ink then select a low cost per month. Posted out and freepost back for old ones. Sorry but don't understand the dislike for the deals like this. Read it and if it's for you then great. Or pay more and have the fun of finding generic replacement cartridges on your own time. This type of deal works well for people that want a reasonable quality print and no hassles.

I've recently bought one of their bigger printers which I set up last night. I used FREEINK and a referral code to extend my three months Instant Ink trial (300 pages per month) to give five months. Beyond that I have a £74 voucher (printer cost £65 after using a code) which I'll use on the £1.99 per month 50 page plan. And it came with a free three year warranty. So, even if I throw it away after the 41 months of free printing it'll have cost me about £1.58 per month, excluding paper, to basically print to my heart's content. The last printer I used, Brother DCP model, was pretty cheap to run on compatibles but I found I had to buy maybe four complete packs of ink at a time to keep the costs down. Plus, a bit of a faff to search for them. This way, no hassle. Prints nicely too.

I must be getting old. We used to buy something and it was yours until you wanted to buy a new add on or an upgrade. Everything now seems to be a monthly subscription. Software, printer ink, Netflix etc, Amazon prime, Apple Music, Spotify. Can't we just pay once and enjoy anymore. Moan over. Back to my Horlicks

Have to agree. We purchased a black and white Samsung laser a couple of years ago. It is faster and cheaper to run than the old ink jet. Always ready to print no cleaning head errors. It has reliable wireless and AirPrint. Scans wireless. All better than an old hp inkjet. It must have saved hours of frustration and hundreds in wasted ink and paper.
If we need colour prints or photos the. Get them online or beg the inlaws for a colour print (on their inkjet). Considering a colour laser for next upgrade

Ahh, the joys of 'Two Part Pricing'
The same model is used with razors, video consoles, and pod style coffee machines, where the manufacturer loses money on the item, but makes up for it in sales of consumables.
It is quite annoying, because you feel the pain when buying the consumable, long after you benefited from buying the original item.

HP just want to track everything you print, one of the conditions of their ink system is you must be connected to the internet so they can monitor you and if you go over the monthly allowance of printed pages then they charge you for it even though you have ink still in the cartidges.
I signed up for the instant ink months ago and have only recieved one set of cartidges,is it because I don't print a lot and they are not getting my money fast enough.
First decent printer that comes up where the Company does not rob you through ink usage and my HP printer is in the bin.

I believe the cartridges they send have a higher ink capacity, to prevent them from having to send them out too often. It's the number of pages allowed to be printed you are paying for, not the amount of ink or number of cartridges. That's also why you need to be connected to the internet, for them to monitor it.
I bought a similar printer around a year ago and decided not to use the instant ink. I've bought 2 cartridges since, so have saved money by not joining - although it depends entirely on your useage.

Just a point of note:- Equivalent Epson EcoTank printer was on sale here for £299. Epson seem to have removed this from sale as it was probably doing them out of business. My Epson L300 EcoTank cost me approximately £40 in Kuala Lumpur. They dont stand for being ripped off out there. If youve ever visited you may have seen their ingenious ink delivery systems in department stores there for about £10. I did give it a try on a Canon but it requires drilling holes etc so my results were half baked. Moral of the story is that they wont stand for these over inflated ink prices out there ....so why should we.

So this is still an issue for inkjets? I've had a couple of dell laser printers for the last 10 years, but have been on the lookout for a replacement. I'd kind of hoped they had solved the whole constant cleaning issue.
Got it down to an epson workforce (cheap ink) or a brother laser (cheap toner).

Heat as it's relatively cheap for a printer. I'm still pondering over laser v inkjet and cannot decide.....

LASER every time, nothing worse than wanting to print something out and discover your print heads are clogged up because you haven't used your printer in a month...
Laser printers also print out quicker, I use several technologies at home (including Dye sub & transfer). I do have an inkjet, although it gets more use as a scanner these days...
I figured if I really wanted to print out a picture I could use an online service (I must take advantage of the "free" Virgin Media/Snapfish deal!) or visit my local stores (Boots are best as they use photographic transfer)
Heat added btw OP!

I bought an Epson L300 in the Far East about 3 years ago. The ink reservoirs are still half full. No £30 black £35 colour cartridges here. Two months ink huh. After that the cartridges will cost you an arm and a leg. Printer ink is one of the most expensive commodities on the planet. The EU bottled out of taking on the big manufacturers about this. Roll on Brexit and lets hope the UK is flooded with Epson L300s. These will save you hundreds especially if you have school age children
