Update Asda have joined in the price "war" 3p a litre off petrol, and others followed
ASDA: 112.7p for petrol/ 112.7 for diesel
MORRISONS: 112.9p for petrol/ 113.9 for diesel
SAINSBURY'S: 112.9 for petrol/ 113.9 for diesel
surprised this hasn't been posted as yet, Morrisons started the ball rolling and all supermarket followed suit. Price reduction takes place tomorrow though some reports say it will be today. No prices being quoted as yet.
So if you own a 45 L car and fuel up once a week, you stand to save this week… 90p. Get that cruise booked.

I used supermarket fuel once and within 2 months was diagnosed as having gout.
I complained bitterly to the CEO of Tescasdainburys but didn't receive as much as an apology.
This was in spite of me having documentary evidence of the clear link between my malady and their "Beelzebub's brew" signed by a hospital consultant (my psychiatrist), my Gran and James Dean.
I now campaign daily for an end to this wholesale Supermarket poisoning of society.
My placards and I are usually outside the M&S in the town centre..........although I haven't been there recently on account of my sore toe.

it rises 2p it falls 1p not worth advertising them, maybe have one day a week not using the car and you'll save just as much. In doing so demand goes down and its good for your health

There is none, and neither Shell nor BP claim higher mileage from their premium fuels.

Supermarket fuel are poor quality. The money you 'save' comes at a price of less miles. Stick to shell or BP you may pay more per litre but you'll go further for less overall.

Stupid comment. I'd rather £52 in my pocket a year from a simple price drop - say it falls another 3p, £100 a year etc. & thats only based on 45L a week.. many do much more than that.

I think I save money by not driving to the supermarket and buying online. There is the problem- hence why they [the supermarkets] might even run a loss leader on fuel.

Edmund King, president of the AA and visiting professor of transport at Newcastle University, says: “Petrol and diesel fuel quality is governed by the same European standard, whether it is sold at a supermarket in Manchester, a motorway service area on the M25 or an independent outside Mevagissey
“Supermarkets source their fuels from all of the major producers and suppliers in the UK. All fuel sold here is tightly controlled and must conform to specifications.”
David Bizley, the RAC’s chief engineer, adds: “There is no difference between standard 95 RON petrols as long as they are purchased from a reputable supplier, so motorists should not have any concerns about petrol quality.

The price has reached the stage for me where it's costing "just" over the £100 mark to fill the tank (every few days) the reduction means it'll be "just" below that, not much, but psychologically it's nice to know I'm not spending over £100 on fuel (and I can Pay at Pump which cuts out at £99)
