Looks like the Florabest electric chainsaw (regularly sold at LIDL) is available as part of their weekly deals but at a reduced price of £39.99. I have seen it at this price from time to time at my local "outlet" store but this seems to be a nationwide deal and with summer coming up it could be a great addition to your garden power tools.
I actually do own an older version of this chainsaw and think I paid £40 a few years ago. For the price it's perfect, I think it's powerful and easily cut a 7 metre tree down in my garden. It's fairly safe too, in that the chain stops rotating almost immediately (obviously take precautions!).
Specs....
--Powerful electric motor with jerk-free chain start-up and sturdy metal teeth --Robust, high-performance engine with ball-bearings on both sides and sprocket nose --Fast and clean cutting, with a smooth-running, low-vibration OREGON chrome chain --2-hand safety switch with chain emergency stop --Automatic chain oiling system with toolless quick tensioning Includes chain protection cover and 180ml environmentally friendly bio chain oil --2200W

Anyone know when this starts/ends. I popped into my local lidl yesterday and they didn't know a thing about it.

Deal started Sunday 14th...purchased on the day and have to say it is a cracking piece of kit for the price. There were only 6 in-store so beware of stock levels

I tried 4 stores locally and none knew anything about the offer! It no longer appears on their website - so was it just a marketing ploy? where was it available?

Martin, these deals are limited but I don't understand why you seem to be having such a problem, for starters it is on the website....
This is cheap, the last one cost me an arm and a leg....

So this Irishman goes into the tool shop and says, I've got to cut down fifty trees this weekend, what would you recommend, and the guy says, This chainsaw should do the job, Sir. The Irishman buys the chainsaw and leaves.
The next week, he comes back in the store and says, This is no good! It took me ages to cut down those trees and it was flaming hard work, so it was. I want a refund! So the guy takes the chainsaw and says, OK Sir, I'll just see if I can find what's the matter... He pulls the starter cord, the chainsaw starts, the Irishman jumps back and shouts, WHAT THE HECK IS THAT NOISE???

1-star, cord gets tangled when used for juggling, would not buy again.
