It says - "The DC59 is now known as the Dyson V6 or the Dyson V6 Animal if you add the animal specific cleaning heads, but they remain fundamentally the same machine as the DC59 reviewed below"

Are these compatible with long haired gerbils, or just dogs and cats?

I was litterly looking at this and the V8 version as the other half has been diagnosed high dust allergy and needed to get a lightweight but good cleaner as I will be using it everyday and to clean up high too. Does any one know if this is good for allergies?

It will pick up the hairs and dust... but I would probably think the higher models with the hepa filter would be the best if she is very bad allergy, I think the absolute models have that feature. But with all vacuums it's when you empty the bin, that's when the dust flies

Get so confused with all these dyson models! Not sure which one is best for mostly carpet and some vinyl/laminate/tile flooring?

Personally the normal motorised head is good for everything but works better on carpets. I've used the Duffy/soft head but for most jobs the standard head does the job.

Just purchased as I've been waiting for a V8 Animal or Total and figured this would do the job with half the run-time for a third of the cost.
Opening post
This has come back on offer at the dyson eBay store. It's around the same price as 6 months ago, that offer didn't last long.
Having looked online it has a v6 motor

The item is refurbished but if you look at all the previous feedback on the store it store it appears many appear to be in new condition.
I have the basic V6 cordless and think it is wonderful, but I wish it had the animal head.
I have also since bought a V8 absolute and yes it's great but not worth another £200+.
For a new buyer who is looking for a Dyson cordless make sure you take a look here.
