Got this for the same price a few months ago,had a nasty chemical/metalic taste to the brews even after being used for over a week,not an isolated case looking at the reviews.
Five stars to Argos though they refunded....

Had the same problem with metalic taste. The bicarb soda and boil up works.

A strange design, but boils very quickly and never had a problem with it.

if you get weird taste boil with 2 teaspoons of bicarb soda , then re boil will clean water .. if its still there repeat. (advice from tefal)

I have used different versions of this same model for 7 years now and had no issues with it. I only changes once due to the appearance and not due to the functionality.
I use Brita filtered water to boil and kettle cleaners once a month to clean.

Never had this problem before,had a similar breville kettle for 4 years was fine but started to leak.
bought a tower kettle no problems,inherent design fault in the manufacturer of the kettle.

Five stars to Argos though they refunded....
