I have a HP stream 14"- 32gb laptop running win10 and after only a few months use it was crammed with Win updates.
Had to remove everything but a browser and CCleaner and I still got the message "free up space on your hard drive blah......blah"
If you buy one make sure you update to the newest version of Win 10.
If you have a 32gb Win 10 laptop that is crammed with updates and you get the message "free up 5gb/8gb on driveC blah....blah...." when trying to upgrade.........follow this advice in the comments at the bottom.
I updated to the latest 'creators edition' using that method Then used a 2nd pc to run rufus to mount the ISO to a usb and then installed that to my 32gb PC. Bit of a faff but it worked!

I picked mine up (click and collect at Sainsbury's is very handy) a couple of days ago.
Pros
Metal/metallic finish makes it look far more expensive than it is and way nicer than the cheap laptops you see in supermarkets.
OK screen.
Decent trackpad and keyboard.
Fairly light.
Silent (no spinning hard disk and no evidence of a fan).
Surprisingly good speakers.
Very impressive battery life.
Cons
The obvious - not much memory and minimal storage. The latter is a bigger deal than the former. Windows 10 will run just about adequately in 2GB if your needs are modest but 32GB of storage presents a struggle. I've installed all the available Windows updates and found myself with under 1GB remaining. This was after installing the Creators Update which failed a couple of times, even when clearing the necessary 8GB of space. I eventually got it to install after burning it to a DVD and installing from a USB DVD drive. Now that I've risked removing the original version of Windows (this gets backed up automatically) I'm back to 9.58GB of free space. This is with only two or three applications added and a few of the pre-installed ones removed.
An obvious workaround for the lack of storage would be to leave an SD card permanently inserted but this is prevented by the fact that the card slot isn't deep enough for the card to be flush with the edge of the laptop. It sticks out by about 2 cm. I've ordered a slimline microSD adapter from eBay. I don't know if it'll fit but it's worth a try for a pound.
So all in all I think the laptop is a bargain; low spec aside, the quality seems quite high and apart from the card slot issue, I haven't had any problems that couldn't have been predicted based on other posts in this thread. Time will tell if it's a decent long-term bet but I don't suppose it'll last as long as the 2010 Asus model that it's replacing.

You cant upgraade memory or ram ... screen colors and viewing angles looks horible.
EMMC is storage memory like a hard drive. It's a small capacity (32GB typical) solid state drive encapsulated in ball grid array package and soldered directly to the mainboard, making it extremely difficult to change or upgrade.

The ram is soldered but you can make it alot snappier buy installing a SSD and using the emmc as virtual ram. Im using a cheaper plastic E402 version and it only slows when i have about 8 tabs open in chrome. Apart from that its been a great laptop for day to day use and the track pad is nice, large and accurate. Im no techie but there are guides available online on how to use the emmc as ram.

Tried various versions of linux via usb but always ended up with problems with programmes suddenly not working then having to trawl forums for answers. Then of course following the guides carefully only to get the message "no such command" or something aaaaargh! Gave up and went back to windows.
Mind you if 'Arnold the bat' ever gets chromium os to work on HP streams I'll jump in then!

Get win 7, update when you want, no adverts, win 10 has no advantage except it can have apps which are cut down versions of programs anyway.

Ordered thanks.
Hesitated because of the limited storage and memory but worth a go at this price.

Looks good for a 'cheapie" CPU is better than the 2955U which is my usual benchmark for basic/minimum machine. However I still hate 1366 x 768 displays.
I bought an Asus T100 from laptopoutlet which had a well known touchpad issue, absolutely no problem with returning it.

Do you have to have Win10 why don't you change to Linux mint and it will run superfast

Whereas the E402 has a HDD bay in which you can install a proper SSD, I believe this model (E403) does not. I may be wrong about that, but best check if you plan to buy this and upgrade it.

shame it's just 32gb storage, that's really tight for win 10 but otherwise decent price if you take the advice from toiletseatlicker above

Is the ram soldered onto the board?
