The mention in the description was added after the original post. There was no mention of this short expiry when I originally ordered.

Yep, that seems to be the only way to do it as it doesn't work on the web store or Xbox one console. You have to laugh at the fact that they've managed the immensely difficult challenge of getting BC working but can't do something simple like let you actually buy the games using their own credit.

If you have credit that expires mixed with credit that doesn't expire, does it use the expiring credit first?

It turns out you can't buy Xbox 360 games with Xbox credit, thank goodness I only wasted ten pounds before I found that one out.
Edit - Turns out you can if you use a 360 for some bizarre reason

Yeah? I ordered three and applied two of them to my son's account as he wanted a particular game, but already had some unused credit which I forgot about, so didn't need all three applied to his account.
Added the remaining £5 code to my account and now its showing as due to expire on August 14th 2017.
After contacting MS about this thinking the error was at their end, I was informed that the code was from a 'Promotional Gift Card', which do have an expiry date.
I contacted CDKeys regarding this issue and told them what MS had said and was more or less told 'Tough'.
They said that once the code is redeemed, it cannot be un-redeemed and that their policy is that they won't issue a refund/replacement on used digital goods as they were sent unused.
They also went on to say I should just use the balance before the expiry date.
All well and good if I was planning on purchasing something, but I'm not. It was only added to my account due to the fact I assumed they didn't expire and could be used any time in the future.
I know it's only a few quid, but it's just not right that they sent me a code I did not want which no one would ever know what it was until it WAS applied!

Any indication of when the actual offer ends?
AdamPI to PsillyPseudonym

Probably when they run out of this batch. These are some kind of promo credit which CDKeys have acquired and expire 90 days after activating. There is probably an expiry on the codes themselves also, so CDKeys can't sit on them forever. Surprised they have not yet sold out anyway....

So i want £50 worth so have added 10 of these £5 codes to my cart and have applied the discount code, but its only taking 20p off, what gives??
AdamPI to BlockABoots
16 May 17#56
Code will only work on first item in cart.
To get 10 you'd have:
1) Get code
2) buy one
3) buy another
4) Wait for code to expire and new one to be generated
5) Repeat

Well that £11.77 was well spent, just bough Left for dead 1 and 2 and ghostbusters the game and still have over £4 of credit left, what to buy next. lol
I had been looking at those games for a while since they went BC on the XB1 but they would have cost me over £30 second hand from the cex and ebay. ha

cheers, £50s worth, for once i can buy digital at the same price as retail. you can also use this credit on the microsoft site so you could get ~20% off a surface if you can be bothered to input the codes

14 May 17#43
You need to buy it with an Xbox 360 console in order to use your credit, it won't let you use it via the website or Xbox One. Microsoft blame it on being a legacy system, which they clearly can't be bothered to update.

Maverick's 100% correct. Xbox 360 games can only be bought by store credit on Xbox 360, but can be bought by card on PC and Xbox One due to the differences in the store backends.

Would it be best to hold back redeeming these or just redeem immediately? Also can anyone remember if there is a way to see when you've redeemed a "voucher" I'm sure you used to be able to see something like, £5 credit, total credit on account. And each one listed below with a total. Like your store purchase history / download queue but including the credits from codes
E: looks like 3 is the limit you can buy using a discount code.

I redeemed this to the XB1 via Windows 10, never had any issue buying games via the XB1 be it xbox 360 or XB1 games, but i have my credit card on my account so that solves a lot of issue, although i never use it for buying anything, i always wait for deals like this.
Turtle1992

i did wonder why it only took of 20p... for the super frugal would seperate transactions work?
Opening post
you will need the fb like code or price is 3.99 , 20% discount is pretty good margin on Xbox credit.
*Note - it seems this credit has a use by date of 11/8/17. worth noting if you are planning on bulk buying *
