You're better off waiting for a good Switch and MK8 Deluxe bundle then spending nearly £200 on a dead platform. Plus this version doesn't come with the extra characters, tracks and battle mode and isn't portable either.
A PS4 or X1 is no good to someone who wants a Wii U though, is it?

^ Why does it bother you so much? I've had my Wii U since launch and I've played it to death, loads of fun games on it. If you're just going to bleat a rather boring opinion, you're missing out on a lot of fun.

Switch is great, but it's essentially a (very well made) portable Wii U.
If you aren't the sort to play games on the go I can see why folk might still fancy picking up a cheap Wii U.
Especially if the price continues to drop.
Some great and cheap titles to be had.
And aside from the inclusion of a decent battle mode, there's nowt on the Switch MK8 you can't get on on the Wii U via DLC. That'd cost just over a tenner more.
We've Zelda BOTW on both platforms (because... kids) - have to say it's VERY impressive on the Wii U.

There is a lot of mileage to be had out of a Wii U if you haven't had one before - Super Mario 3D World, New Super Mario/Luigi Bros, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Kirby, Pikmin 3, Splatoon, Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Zombi U, plus two HD Zelda remasters - not to mention Wii backwards compatibility.
Sure, I would expect it to be cheaper by now (I paid less for mine 2 years ago!), but if it's going to hold it's value like this then that could also work in your favour once you're done with it and trying to sell it on, by which time the Switch should have a few more must-have games.
Both the PS4 and Xbox One have PC apps that you can stream to, if you find off-TV play useful. I know it's not like they give you a free laptop/tablet to do that with but I've found them very useful - when the TV's in use sometimes I'll pick up my Wii U Gamepad to play some Zelda, sometimes I'll open my laptop and play some Bloodborne or Gears of War. Oooh, that soft-modding. <3

Not really, id rather buy this over the switch, wii U has some great games and if you have kids this is an amazing deal.

Free online play and a large library of cheap games; still plenty of value in this for lots of people

My point is that nearly £200 for a Wii U isn't a good deal, when you can probably find an Xbox One or PS4 for a similar price!
