Dummies question - why glass? I would have thought that plastic would do the same job and do it with less danger of breakage. Is there a benefit in having these as glass?

Plastic - glass - metal: which one keeps the fizz in sofa best ?

Dunno about fizzy sofas, but I think the main benefit of these is that you can put them in the oven without melting them

Plastic could potentially leak harmful chemicals and glass can store hot food and liquids

I much prefer glass - as an earlier poster has said foods can go straight in the oven - you don't get the colour or smell hanging about either as it dies with plastic - and of course the chemicals -
I am starting to replace all my plastic storage with glass Pyrex with the plastic lids - I like the look of these Lidl containers but not their lids - I don't get the click and close system - I prefer the push on solid seal.

Totally agree - why do so many food containers have clip-lock lids, as they're bound to break sooner or later.
