dont think anyone knows until people get this new stock, being a little selfish i hope not, as it means it is a limited/day one edition unlike a lot of these that are still available months later

From what I read a while back. The day one edition will be Steelbook. The standard that is released early may will be a standard plastic box.

I have a steelbook, launch edition. But a friend who also ordered from amazon for delivery on release day received a standard copy. Amazon had them listed separately so they definitely aren't all Steelbooks.

My favourite game for 2017 so far, didn't realise how much of a slut i was. took me 172 hours for first playthrough and now taking a break before i start my second.

Struggling to get into this, P4 is one of my fav games.
There is no point to any of the interaction during the eleventybillion hour tutorial, it's soooo slow in leaving go of your hand and could have shown you everything in one initial fight.. Could have at least told you that you have to grind forever on low level enemies in the dungeon without using your SP otherwise you will just be wasting your time as there is only one way to replenish this (coffee brewing).
The "special sauce" of P4 has been replaced with IMHO some very poor music.

Can any one confirm if this is the steel book version or just standard?

If you don't like using SP items then level up the doctor and buy the SP regen accessories. It's clear you have a prejudice against it though and that is no way to enjoy life.

I certainly am no prejudiced against it  don't be so melodramatic
It's technically better than 4 in every way... Just think it does a lot of unnecessary things in the first 9 hours (hell I'm still playing and most games would have me either finished or totally bored by 3 hours).
I'm just saying it's not in my top 10 games of all time at the moment due to the tutorial and music (P4 in top five, so I had very high expectations). I'm yet to find the game's heart (even though I've just taken Kamoshida's)
No it's just a standard PS4 cover

I don't believe I'm being melodramatic, it was a statement with a positive outlook. The way I see it, you replied to someone who is extremely happy with it, has played 172 hours and wants to go back for more. Your reply to that was just a half dozen gripes.
P4 was a great game, P5 wouldn't exist in its current form if it wasn't, but the only one comparing them is you. It is a destructive comparison, like arguing over who's better, Newton or Nightingale. P4 was set in an ominous rural haze and was targeted mostly to fans of P3. Its soundtrack builds on P3 and contrasts the cheery commercial image with the heartbreak hidden away. P5 is set in the core of Tokyo and tells a story of rebellion with acid jazz in its audio. They are different styles for different purposes.
Since the game is aiming to be the series' first newbie-friendly game since 2006 your complaining about the first 5% of the game is surely self centred. You're holding this game up against 100+ hours with P4 and you have barely even begun... can't you see how your focus on the negative is only ruining it for yourself? That's why I said, that's no way to enjoy life.

You're the second person today warning about the dangers of nostalgia! I shall take the message on board and go in fresh, if all else fails I can always play through P3 (purchased and never played).

That's the spirit! P3 is an excellent game too, it's probably aged pretty severely but I hope you find the enjoyment you're looking for.
p.s. I'm glad that this stayed positive as I was quite concerned walking the line of potentially overstepping
