Good price for the model BUT you could get one without all of this bluetooth nonsense that has the same RPM speed for even less!

Well, not quite...

Oral-B RRPs are ridiculous and are regularly subject to huge reductions.

Based on advice from my hygienist the 'sweet spot' in the range is the 600 (it has the 3D action, which works, but avoids all the nonsense 'features' further up the range - do you really want to take your smartphone into the bathroom and link it before brushing your teeth?).

You can often pick these up for £25 (half RRP) but they have been around recently for under £20:

I have got the next version up from this and to be honest I the bluetooth connection is terrible on it. It worked for the first month or so but now it no longer connects with my phone. The battery takes ages to recharge too. If I leave it on all night then I never have more than two bars full out of three on the indicator.

The only reason I have hesitated to send it back to Amazon because of the BT issues at the moment is because it does such a good job of cleaning my teeth. After having this it is the first time a dentist has ever said my brushing was up to standard. :smiley:

The bluetooth connectivity means that you can leave the device on the charger, and just use your smartphone as the toothbruth. Less comfortable if you are using a phablet.

Isnt the Bluetooth just for those that use disclosing tablets? :stuck_out_tongue:

I've used a range of these oral b electric toothbruses, ranging from £70 to £150 quid, and trust me. The cheapest trizone/lowest spec oral-b 650s are the best.

First off, the trizone and round oral-b heads are interchangeable, so get whichever of the two is on sale at the time, and buy whatever heads you want.

Secondly, the features you're spending more for are actually terrible.
* Bluetooth functionality? useless, dropped connections, depends on an app that only works with a select range of phones and will crash and fail regularly. Offers very little useful improvement on tooth brushing other than stats.

* Pressure Light? Horrible, it's incredibly bright, and for some insane reason shines upwards when brushing, straight into your eyes, which are quite close to your mouth if you haven't noticed. The brightness of the light is ridiculously strong, and I find I have to brush my teeth with my eyes shut when using the brushes with the pressure sensor.
Additionally, the pressure sensor is rubbish. It triggers with the absolutely lightest touch, so will go off dozens of times during a standard brush, regardless of whether you're brushing 'correctly' or not. Besides, ever had a professional clean? they brush quite hard into your teeth, oral-b brushes aren't electric sanders, your teeth will survive the marginal pressure you apply that will trigger this light.

* Varying brush modes? Pointless, the standard mode is the only thing of any use. The brace/gum care/sensitive modes are just massively slow. To the point where you might as well be using a manual brush. The sonic vibrations are too slow to move plaque, and the brush movements don't pull enough to grab food from between your teeth.

I've found the cross action brush to be the best at cleaning and the sensitive option allows the brush to be used with children as well. It's a good brush at this price.
