That's rather mean! - this is a device that has 3 months entertainment and the hardware for under £10 and sideloading was only ever a nice to have and should never have been considered a permanent optional feature

The recent update prevents developer mode which is required to sideload plex. So I will be buying another from this link and then preventing further updates. The old one will go on ebay for around £5.

Heat added, thank you. Was bidding for a used one on eBay the other day got to £7.50 with postage but was outbid and that didn't have a pass with it. Great find, thanks again
If we can find out update server IP's these can be blocked on router... Some more reading to do...

Can't see what issue having no plex is actually causing. Most will be buying the product for the vouchers. Got half a dozen boxes in the attic, the vouchers are used throughout the house to every tv/ps4/ps3 without the boxes on most connections.

I have bought 8 of these boxes from them before and have just ordered a few more. They do free delivery so you can't complain at this price. Only minor issue is you have to sign up and today my transaction went through without prompting me for any payment details so it looks like they store your payment card info like Amazon.
Hoping to use the vouchers and sell the boxes on Ebay.
Defo a good deal and you need to be quick as they go out of stock fast

Yeah many will have been utterly wiped out financially when their £10 boxes stopped providing a feature it was never sold to do
I can understand people being annoyed when their smart TV stops working with an add-on app but a £10 box doesn't really compare.

Only when you enter the included code, & will work up to 1 year later (if it doesn't after a year, you can contact them to extend it).
Master_Yoda
15 Apr 17#46
Only buy these boxes if you are not bothered if the codes don't work. Don't stock up and just assume the codes will work in the future - the codes often don't work and their CS will do everything possible not to honour the codes.Have learnt this the hard way.
duncan5112 to Master_Yoda
15 Apr 17#47
i disagree with this as must have had well over 10 boxes with passes never an issue with codes. If buying several copies though would advise checking expiry date with live chat most have over 1 year validity depends on shop stock of course.

It's the new SMARTER Smart NOW TV Boxes (more £'s) that have Freebies content 'built-in', the OP's above (cheaper) NOW TV Boxes are not them!, lol.
But, that aside though (apart from the Entertainment Pass/Package you pay for), you do get a load of other App Content 'built-in', eg. BBC iPlayer, You Tube, Catch Up TV, 4oD, etc etc etc?, so ..... :-)
It's up to you?.
dealpickle to jenlamont99
16 Apr 17#55
As mentioned in another post, this box does not have Freeview. There is a new, pricier 'smart' Now TV box that does if you really want it. But the box in this deal still provides plenty, including Sky Atlantic, Sky One, GOLD, BBC iPlayer (although there have been some technical issues with this lately), All4, Fox, Youtube and more. Honestly, for less than a tenner it's well worth picking one up.

This is a good deal. I have ordered one with the 2 months movie pass (I'll add it onto the previous voucher when it expires in September). It is half the price of the movies subscription and I'll get a box to give away as well.
dealpickle to othen
16 Apr 17#64
Although - last time my Movies pass expired and i went through the cancellation process they offered me four months at £3.99, which was even cheaper than the cheapest 'with box' deal. So always bear in mind that that will sometimes be a cheaper option than buying a new box (though i realise you can make a bit back by selling the box).

othen
16 Apr 17#65
Well, having done that previously I'd agree up to a point. I finished a 4 month period at a reduced rate (I think £3.99) just last month, before applying the 3 month free pass that came with the new type box I had bought in the meantime. I suppose I could have tried the cancellation scam again, but I thought it unlikely that the company would do it a second time.
I still think this is a pretty good deal, I'm fairly happy with the movie service for a fiver per month.

Netflix doesn't really have the high profile movies that Now TV has or the box sets of high profile network TV shows. Netflix is great but they offer completely different things.
