It's 4.5W processor in a fanless casing. In passmark is scores about the same as a Haswell i5-4200U (15W) (this m3-6y30 3056 MT and 1183 ST, while the i5-4200U gets 3259 MT and 1376 ST). For what is essentially a sub-800g table with a keyboard (500g), that's not bad. How useable a 12.5" FHD screen is another question but at least its not the 4K version which seems silly on a 12.5" screen.

Specs seem a little messed up? Title says 12.5" yet the specifications listed on the site say 13.3". Safe to say its 12.5" because of its name, but is that all thats wrong with the listed specs then?

So what's everyone's verdict on this? This seems like an excellent price for a well reviewed laptop but I'm just worried about the CPU in this.

Obviously browsing would be fine but how would it cope with say Photoshop or Illustrator? I'm not talking large files.

In general how do these perform?

Sold my iPad to delve into Windows tablets as i loved my little £40 tablet.

That's pretty poor, so more like 4 hours if doing anything intensive. Our xps 13 with a qhd display and i7 will do 9 hours easily, albeit with a 4 cell battery.

not sure about the 1080p version, but the m5 4k version has the nicest screen in a laptop i've ever seen. its a very nice little ultraportable. shame the dock doesn't boost battery life.

Would it be best to wait you think for Kaby lake 2in1 devices? The Galaxy Book has my eye, as does the new Surface line once we get confirmation.

As someone who regularly (daily) uses a Core M machine, it's fantastic, it was everything many people were hoping for in terms of Core i performance in Atom-type TDP. The only downfall was the price normally but these have come right down. Yes, it's weak if you are loading it up to max and keeping it at full load as it will throttle down, but 90% of people don't do that and the other 10% probably rate performance over portability and slimness so will go for a conventional laptop or workstation.

4GB Ram? A few chrome tabs will kill it...

The real world battery life is very poor so portability is compromised. I was looking at this one earlier this year but decided to go for smaller Dell Latitude 11 5175 (Intel M5, 8GB, 256GB, 11" FHD).

If the m5 is anything to go by, the m3 will be a horrible processor. I had a Dell laptop with an m5 and it struggled even with multiple tabs open whilst web browsing and a couple of Office docs open.

Surely better off getting a Surface Pro 3 with i5?

Anyone had to return an item to this company before? I'm tempted to get one of the refurb XPS 12's but in case I'm not happy with the condition or its performance I want to be able to return it, they've come back to me saying "Goods must be returned in original as sent condition."

After some advice if you could spare a minute. I am going travelling and want something portable and easy to use in small spaces e.g. On planes but can also be used for basic laptop functions. I am currently considering either a 2in1 like above or getting a tablet and adding a keyboard.
My main uses will be; watching movies, using the internet and storing photos/videos. I am happy to get an external hard drive to use for most storage but want something that I could connect camera and hard drive to so I can do a photo dump every now and then. Other then that it doesn't need to be overly fast or fancy as I don't use large graphic software etc.

Been searching a while now so any ideas would be appreciated. Budget is £500 max soca bit limiting. Alternatively would look at small sized laptops up to 13"
