The FlexDirect account could be right for you if you're after an account that pays you interest when you have money in your account and you prefer to do your banking online or over the phone. It also has a really simple set of overdraft fees. To benefit from in-credit interest, you'll need to pay in a minimum of £1,000 per calendar month (excluding transfers from any Nationwide account held by you or anyone else).
FlexDirect is based on a simple self-service concept – you'll be automatically registered for our online and telephone banking services to manage your account. If you ever have a transaction that can't be completed via our self-service options then our branches and UK call centres will be here for you.
FlexDirect also comes with...

Why do you, and so many others, have a personal vendetta against posts like this!? The OP is posting it here to draw attention to a bank account where customers can gain a decent amount of interest for minimal input/effort. Just because it's posted elsewhere, or was posted here previously, doesn't matter. A lot of us are here to help each other out, others it seems, are here just to take umbrage!

There is a flex regular saver account linked to this one that allows you to transfer £500 across each month and again it's 5% but the account only lasts 12 months but you can start it over again when the year is up.

Does the £500 have to come from your flexdirect account or can it come from a different bank? TIA

I have this and the flex regular saver.
Pays interest, 'free' money, whats not to like about this one.
Nationwide haven't been late or wrong in giving me the interest, I haven't been paying in late either.
100% protected my the government, basically risk free return.
It's still active because it's not a duplicate (see help section for details of what is).

lmao when i see you throwing your toys out of your pram! its a website mate get over it! I typed in nationwide and came up with just mine then when i put nationwide building society in it come up with your deal!
So why you reposting then? Maybe yours should be deleted too! People forget about deals so if its active its worth posting again every so often as i tend to look at whats current not whats been posted about 5 months ago!

Yeah you can also open their regular saver, up to 500£ a month, 5% interest additional.

For folks looking for hot deals, I'm surprised all of you aren't keeping an eye out on moneysavingexpert / moneysupermarket for the best rates? Why this 'deal' should get hot given it's been on the market for years puzzles me...

Can anyone confirm? As far as I can see no need for any compulsory direct debits required for this account?
craigrathbone to Brand.new
10 Apr 172#25
Nope, no direct debits required, just pay in £1000 each month, I transfer in £1k from my main account and then straight back out again the same day to meet the requirements
xeroc to Brand.new
10 Apr 171#26
Correct.
I have one of these. Works as intended.
If you have a FlexPlus account (as I do also), note there are no minimum pay in requirements either.
Worth notIng; Flex Saver is also useful- but pays interest on maturity (unlike this current account which pays it monthly)

If you can spare a few minutes for typing in comments like that then instead use those few minutes to get yourself some interest on your cash.

10 Apr 17#34
I actually got more enjoyment from typing that, than I could from £12.50.
I can definitely make better use of £2,500 than leaving it in a Nationwide account for a year to earn a pittance.

11 Apr 17#40
I have this account, and after a year it will drop to a % I was told you need to have had this account close for a year, to get 5% again. So you would just need to switch the account over to one that gives you free travel insurance for a year, and then switch back to 5% paying one, the year after. Can anyone confirm that?
craigrathbone
12 Apr 17#41
Well go ahead and post your deals for earning more than 5% on £2.5k from doing absolutely nothing. Other than investing (which isn't guaranteed and takes time and effort) I can't see how you would beat this?
Better than it sat earning nothing...
