I posted this with a different retailer, hopefully this one won't get pulled!!
Intel Core i3 7100U Processor
1920X1080 ips screen
Backlit keyboard
4GB Memory
Intel HD 620 Graphics
Optical Drive: None
256GB Solid State Drive
Windows 10 Home
2 x USB 3.0
1 x Type C
HDMI
2 year warranty
The cheapest 7th gen i found was a very basic looking 15" i5 Acer at ebuyer for £366, but the screen was low res, all plastic case and it wasn't SSD, makes this Medion good value.
Per Amazon specs (where it's the same price as found by Winchman yesterday) - weight is 1.4kg, battery life only 4 hours.
Heat added (best <£400 laptop I've seen for ages) but it's not really an ultrabook as they claim with these specs. So it depends whether you want to pay another £100+ for a bit more portability (and maybe RAM).
Its also available from Laptop outlet, and via Tesco to get some points.

Fair enough, that's really not bad then and would be fine for an average day out of the office.

4GB RAM is not enough in my view; shame as the rest is quite good..

There should be no problem with 4GB provided you don't want it for gaming. You would want a separate graphics card to game anyway. Rarely see mine go above 2/2.5gb, its my 3rd gen i5 processor that runs at 100% that i think limits my laptop not the ram.

My dad had a Medion that he bounced off the floor, smashing the screen, but it worked as a small factor PC via a screen for many years after with no issue. I think every maker has their detractors.

A previous post says its not upgradeable but did'nt say why, so maybe its soldered on.

You'd be far better off trying to track down a refurbished Lenovo X1 Carbon. Even a refurbished one will be better quality than this shonky Medion and the X1 is one of their top of the line business ultrabooks with high end component quality and build as well as 14", 1.4kg, IPS screen, 1440p, vastly better keyboard etc. You can get i7 / 8GB / 240GB SSD versions for about £500 or less and there were i5 versions going a few months ago for around £429.

Great laptop, I have the i7 variant at home, very light and portable. A steal at that price.
another example from which? (i5/8gb ram)

You may not have heard of German computer company Medion before - its laptops aren't often seen on sale over here. But the Medion Akoya S3409 has all the components of a very good 13-inch laptop.
Pros: Rapid processing, gorgeous screen, light and portable, decent battery life
Cons: Poor speaker sound, 100GB less useable space than claimed"

You're a subscriber to Which? ROTFL!! No wonder you don't know anything about laptops!

19 Apr 172#26
apart from the fact that no i am not a subscriber (great work buddy!) - id go with which? over your nonsense every day of the week
as usual you pick a single point and make a fool of yourself with that
what about the notebookcheck link? probably the biggest and best laptop review site anywhere... but lets not use that as it doesn't back up any made up points eh?
i am sure the person above is waiting for the link to that x1 carbon with the specs you stated for 500quid (apart from not being relevant as much more and a refurb)
14", 1.4kg, IPS screen, 1440p... you can get i7 / 8GB / 240GB SSD versions less than 500 apparently

19 Apr 17#27
ROTFL. Come now, be honest - you've copy and pasted that blurb straight from the subscribers section of Which? They're the most useless publication going when it comes to knowledgeable reviews. They even describe that i3 ULV as something that provides "rapid processing"!!
I bet you also secretly enjoyed reading up on their reviews of oven gloves, lampshades, and electric kettles!

It would be nice to see some evidence that these Medions are not very high quality - most of the critics are using emotive language and demonstrating little/no proof while professional reviews (not inc. Which!) suggest that they are good machines. I imagine Lenovo X1 Carbons are better built but you'd have to get an old second-hard or refurb to get anywhere near this price - surely a brand new machine with 7th gen processor and warranty is a better bet, especially for under £400.
Besides the bickering, is this laptop actually any good? lol

Headline specs are "look" okay but build quality and component quality is garbage. I used to have a very similar Medion model to this. Screen was crap, keyboard bounced like a trampoline, trackpad was a joke, motherboard was cheap junk, fan signature went up and down like Brilly bouncing his bunkbed, BIOS couldn't be updated, SSD was slow and real world battery life was terrible. Hinges on the screen eventually the broke the cheap plastic bezels on the screen. Brilly thought it was great though but then he reads Which?
1440p? nope, not even 1080p like the medion
still the shiny patches on the screen and the fact the battery will 'hold a charge' is reassuring indeed
good to know you have a stupidity scale though, must be very useful for you

Also if you don't mind an import and know your way around a Windows installation or an OS language/region conversion, the Xiaomi Air 12 is also a vastly more premium laptop than this Medion: http://www.gearbest.com/laptops/pp_416105.html?wid=4&utm_source=tt_de
