Forgot to add the DTD 152 impact driver. :-) Don't recommend it's used for light screwing though e.g. plasterboard. Much better using torque settings to get perfect depth.

I agree with above comments that the 458 is better if you want a drill that can do a reasonably good job of drilling, however it is quite a bit heavier than the 482.
I know this may be a bit much for most diyers, but I use a 482 for smaller jobs such as screwing into plasterboard or pilot holes in wood; a 458 for more demanding screwing e.g. into wood, or for some minor drilling in masonry; and then a DHR242 SDS drill for drilling in bricks and larger holes. You can't beat having the right tools for different jobs.

Having recently purchased a dtd152 impact driver I'll never use a drill/driver or combi for screw driving tasks unless I have no option. I may be rather late to the party but it's worlds away from using a drill as a screwdriver.
Any thoughts on which one to keep, with price in mind? Mostly use it for DIY about a dozen or so times a year so paying double for this seems a bit overkill, especially as I can probably buy a nice impact driver to go with the Bosch for the same price.

Ordered - Thanks
Ill possibly wish I had waited if a drill and impact kit comes along for good money, but this drill seems good for medium jobs, plus I want the batteries for a 1/2" impact gun for the car.

I burnt my first one out, gears went on the second. It's not as strong as a worx 24v drill I've had for 5 years. But if you have a makita grinder you can use the same battery

did not notice it was the new bats with the charge indicators - excellent!!!
If you call the batteries £45 each, then basically you are paying £35 for the drill, charger and case here.

I placed an order for this 'Prime exclusive' in January and it was only delivered last week. Absolute bargain, but only if you are prepared to wait!

Use the Dewalt extreme masonary drill bits and this'll be fine for the vast majority of users... but I'd agree and go for the 458 if you're drilling into very tough walls/concrete etc on a semi regular basis (ie your home is built like a brick privvy)... it's a heavier drill but combined with decent bits it really eats bricks and concrete with ease.

thinking about it now it is actually technically concrete. I realise that the term masonry includes bricks, engineering bricks etc - but I wouldn't go about drilling holes into bricks all day with this or you could tire out the brushed motor very quickly. SDS is a better option for this type of drilling continuously

excellent price. worth getting this as a starter, then just buy body only stuff from then on.
So you meant it is not good for cement then?
Or you meant concrete maybe and not just pure cement?
You do know masonry includes bricks too, right?
And this drill eats bricks for breakfast.

because I tried it on cement with some decent drill bits from makita. only got a few cm into the cement. I had to finish it with an SDS drill

got this last at same price. decent robust drill but not powerful if you want to drill into masonry
I have the 458 and agree it's a competent drill but I'm not sure where you're getting more than twice the power?
This is rated at 61Nm and the 458 is rated at 91Nm so almost 50% more.

same here. ordered in Jan, arrived 3 months later... drill is very good (as you would expect!) , and batteries are the newer type with a charge indicator.
