Posting from one of these laptops right now. I've had around 3 months of usage and the touchscreen and foldability aspect of it has made my existing tablet completely obsolete. Tent mode is particularly useful for use on trains or on a table The IPS screen is top quality, with deep blacks and rich colours. The side screen bezels are so small that the 14" screen fits into what would traditionally be a 13" frame. The i7, 8GB of RAM and SSD make it incredibly fast. The laptop isn't particularly heavy either. Battery life is excellent too.
I'd definitely recommend this to anybody who wants a fast and versatile laptop. If anybody has any questions about it I'll be happy to answer.

Is this a good alternatve to the Zenbook....good spec way cheaper than Zenbok with thei spec but seems a bit heavier

only downside I can see is resolution and weight compared to the zenbook but I'm no expert so hopefully some more people will post

I was looking at this and the 10% off is only applicable to laptops over £699
I don't think you will be able to use it in this one as the advertised price of 629 seems to already accommodate the 10% discount

have already tried and it does take another 10 percent off. seems it's selling out quick though as was available for delivery and in stock in more stores

No stock anywhere it seems. Shame as it looks a spot on deal, but i'm sure there will be plenty more deals like this now ... delighted to finally see 256gb SSD / 8gb RAM / Light 13" and 14" laptops for around £500-£600 starting to become the norm.

For sure. Shopping with a £500 budget just after Christmas, I had to settle for 128gb SSD. I'm loving my HP x360, but had to add in a 128gb sd card recently. This is a fantastic spec for the price if anyone can find stock.

Code is only valid for purchases over £699. But it's all academic really given that there's no stock anywhere.

Word of warning, we have one of the last generation of these - it's had the USB board replaced twice, and a motherboard, in just under a year.
We bought the "next business day" repair warranty, which turned out to be "next business day we have available", which was ~2 weeks.

The keyboard is one of the better laptop keyboards. My only niggle is the placement of the right shift button that's too close to the arrow keys.
I haven't done any battery life tests, but from memory I can recall times where I've got almost a whole working day out of it without recharging.
therod
17 Apr 171#44
Isn't 14", doesn't have thin side bezels, is heavier, doesn't fold, nor does it have a touchscreen. Not a valid comparison.
Additionally to get similar innards (i7, 8GB, 256GB SSD, IPS Panel) the total comes to £766 vs £566, so that's £200 more. Not quite sure where you're getting the "2x better laptop for £150" from.

Here's a video review of basically the same model but with slightly less components - review is from last Nov - but it is interesting that the reviewer does not rate the graphics card in it ... and the one in Currys has an even older version of the graphics card.
Does the keyboard feel a little narrow to type on? I had a brief go at typing on it and it seemed a bit squashed into the centre. I'm used to a 14" Sony Vaio keyboard but I'm looking to refresh and they don't make them anymore! But I'm gonna be typing a lot so I was wondering how have you found it with typing for long periods of time?
therod
23 Apr 17#63
I'm an idiot. I've just realised I have the 710 variant, not the 510. The 710 is much slimmer in depth with smaller bezels. The keyboard is probably different too.
Idiot.
jmetmkns to therod
23 Apr 17#64
You're right, the only one they had in store when I looked is the 710 and the slimmer depth is much nicer but I've just had my 510 delivered so I'll see how it compares
