Great deal, better value than buying one. Uses a 9v battery which can be easily fitted and changed.

Due to the huge funding cuts not every fire service gives out free detectors to everyone, some just target over 65's. As a result of cuts fire deaths are starting to rise year on year for just over 7 quid for 2 its money well spent

Aint nobody got time for all that faff of contacting their poor fire service and making them fit one for you. Just spend the measly £7 yourself you freeloading lazy gits.

Having had the fire safety inspection etc. they kindly fitted 3 in my house (Hall, landing and computer room). I will say the ones they fit have 10 year lithium batteries in them. So fit n forget (except the odd hoover out and test every clock change). 1 of them has failed and I've replaced with normal, but I do prefer the fire station long life battery ones. Plus the fire station ones have a 10 minute mute button, which is great if they ever accidently go off eg burnt toast etc. Very good deal though. If you haven't got at least 2 working smoke alarms in your house - shame on you!
