you don't need an electrician to fit these. Just make a note of which wires are connected to which in your current fitting and put them in the same order in the new one. Just make sure you switch the supply off at the fuse board first!

We had one of these in our living room until recently. Here's a tip - wedge the glasses in their holders with paper or similar if you're mounting them on a ceiling with a floor above it. Depending on how bouncy your floor is the glass makes a lot of noise when people walk around above the fitting.

If someone thinks they need an electrician they probably do. The poster could be elderly or physically not capable of using a step ladder or similar. Alternatively, ask a friend with a bit of DIY know how.
