Well I spoke to Google Chromecast support on Monday and they said it has a two year warranty, maybe you know something they dont?

It's now £23 plus £2 click and collect fee. I wonder how much it will be if you just buy one instore?

Google may offer a 2 year warranty, but that's their decision.
It has nothing to do with UK or EU law.
In the UK, there has to be a minimum of 12 months warranty offered.
In the EU it's 2 years, but if your item fails on day 731, you're on your own and have to cough up for repair &/or replacement.
In the UK, you are allowed by law to make a claim against the retailer for up to 6 years.
You'd have to get an independent report done, supporting your claim and take the retailer to court, but you would almost certainly win and get all your costs covered.
You don't have that option in the EU, it's 2 years, end of.

Question: would a Chromecast be able to do anything different when I've already got a smart TV? I can stream YouTube from my android phone onto the smart TV, will a Chromecast let me do more things?

I have mine plugged into the home cinema and use it mostly to stream music from my phone.

I don't have an aerials socket in the kitchen if I used this and put my portable in there would it work to get live tv or do I need the aerial too?
