Good deal, much prefer just to pick one up from Argos tomorrow even thou it's £3 more, much easier and no waiting around for delivery. Same price at Curry's BTW.

Good item to buy if you have a £5 or £10 voucher from a previous purchase.

bought the chromecast primarily to cast from the bt sports app on my phone (desktop app is rubbish) however, EE customers using the BT sports app can't use this function

I'm with EE and cast the BT app to my Chromecast dongle or NOW TV box. I'd guess a SMART TV would be castable too, anything really that's DLNA compliant. It's only the Google Home (formerly known as Google Cast) App you're prevented from casting it from. That leaves every other casting/mirroring app in the world for you to use or if you're using a decent phone it'll at least have screen mirroring capabilities built in. Alternatively get a micro HDMI cable and connect phone to TV that way. Just make sure it's charged to full so you don't run out of juice before the match/movie finishes!

Depends on the app, as for what I use it for (BT Sport) to cast it doesn't kill battery at all and can close phone / play games on it too whilst streaming

You can also cast the screen from your phone to Chromecast then open the BT Sport app. The only problem with this way is the feed has to come through your phone continuously so it's not as seamless as the Chromecast getting the feed directly. Also, you can't use your phone while the game is on, you must leave the screen on, and notifications etc pop up on your tv.
Those other options you mentioned - do they all have to take the stream through your phone and do any of them allow you to use your phone without affecting the stream?

How do you cast to a Now TV box? I've been trying to achieve that, off and on, since they came out but keep drawing a blank. Maybe I'm missing something obvious.
