Just bought one. Its a voucher for 1 year "free" trial of HP Ink. Will only be charged IF you go over the 15 pages.

TBH, I've not seen this business model in the home market before and even the entry level £1.99 per month seems a good deal for people who don't print much.

My mother prints a few photos of the grandkids every month and so the nozzle heads require cleaning fairly regularly (and that's very wasteful on ink). I have gone through the T&C's and there aren't any gotchas. Was expecting to see something like 15 free pages based on 5% coverage etc, nothing

Unused pages are NOT rolled over in the free plan (they are on the paid plans)
HP will charge Participant overage fees in the amount of £1.00 (“Excess Fees”) for each additional set of 10 pages (“Overage Pages”).

No you don't have to buy anything upfront but you do have to put in your payment details so that if you go over 15 prints then you will be charged but it doesn't do that without your confirmation. It says you have to keep the printer connected to your wifi though so HP makes sure you don't run out of ink.

Correct ! 15 pages is very little... although I never managed to use up all 300 (I guess my usage would be around 100-150 if I print all crap)

Horses for courses. I have an hp 8610 and my cartridges were all nearly empty. It has 3 colours plus black so 4 carts all for £15-20 each. I have tried compatibles and they all fail or have been poor quality.

So I signed up for the £1.99 a month plan. For the same price as buying 4 cartridges for a minimum of £60, I get 30 months of printing, 50 pages each month. And I don't have to shell out £60-80 upfront.

If I change my printer in the meantime I just cancel the subscription. Or if the printer breaks I don't lose the remaining ink in the cartridges.

Nonsense. I'm on instant ink £3.49 a month as I print a fair bit for my home business, and my ink costs have more than halved.

Plus the convinince of not having to go out to buy ink last minute when you've failed to realize you're running low... plus the fact all your documents can be reprinted as the server keeps copies of them...

I think it tells you that the offer is only available during set up so I guess as long as you don't set it up straight away you will be fine to still get the offer x

I second that, I got a Dell one for £40-£50 last year, I don't do a lot of printing, just the odd document, and I was sick and tired of deskjet printers that never work when you want them unless you use them frequently with official ink. The dell laser sits dormant covered in dust, but when I need to print it prints flawlessly first time.
