Aldi sell their bananas in packs of 5 for 72p (not 72p per kilo as you may assume like other stores) their individual bananas are priced at 12p each (approximate equivalent to 72p a kilo) so you can buy 6 bananas of your choice and ripeness for same price as 5 packaged ones - thus 1 'free'!!!!
Buying bananas singularly is usually the more expensive way to purchase.....,,,,
Bananas are 12p and people say they can't afford healthy food.
Good grief.

well bananas are cheap but u may have the police come around if u eat too many in 1 go. a cousin of mine likes bananas and had a test blood test done and then the plod turned up asking him loads of questions and took him to the doctors straight away a very strange story but it's true something to do with having high potassium in his blood tests.

Undoubtedly cheap if you can find large loose bananas, but I have to challenge the idea that buying bananas singularly is usually the more expensive way to purchase - I'd say the opposite is almost always the case unless you are buying from the small convenience stores (Tesco Express, Sainsburys Local, etc).

Well you could buy 6 bigger loose bananas for 66p (now 72p) at Aldi which were cheaper to buy than thier normal packs by weight which contained only 5 bananas.

The pre-packed ones are often far too ripe for my liking, but the single ones are lovely!

"Buying bananas singularly is usually the more expensive way to purchase"; I'm guessing you're referring to the Metro stores that sell them priced individually, I don't think that really compares to Aldi's model. Buying by weight in supermarkets (i.e. Singularly) is almost always cheaper than the bagged ones. Aldi don't sell by weight as they don't have scales at the checkout, but I suspect that will eventually change as people's mindset shifts from prepackaged fruit/veg.

My point was Aldi used to sell their bagged bananas for 1kg at 69p - now the 1kg price is 72p - they are selling 5 bananas for 72p, not 1kg - so people may be confused (as I was) and think they are getting 1kg still at 72p which they are not - unless they are huge. Any singular bananas (not just loose ones) for sale at a price per banana (not by weight) are always more expensive (I have found) - but not in this case. Just my thoughts!!

But if you remember when you were a kid, you had a banana and your friend had chocolate and crisps, how did you feel?

I'm talking about adults on tv who say fish n chips is cheaper than cooking. At £5 I can cook 5 meals.

I think that's all to do with just being plain lazy, as you say doesn't take much to cook cheap, nice food.
