Sold a few high value items on eBay using the £1 offer, never again...

In that situation I would probably make the delivery option for the item "Free collection in person". Then, in the item description, say that you might be able to arrange delivery to their address, if they contact you in advance with their postcode.
That way, if the buyer makes the purchase yet is outside your delivery/collection range, it's definitely their own fault.
'You're not eligible for this promotional offer because your seller standing is Below Standard.'
Anybody have some advice for me? Sold a couple of large items with delivery specific rules, asked buyers to message with postcode before purchasing and they've just purchased and I couldn't fulfil delivery and so I've marked item as out of stock.

My advice would be to use an alternative sites such as Gumtree or Facebook to sell big items. Granted it takes longer but I can't stand being trapped by paypal only transactions... I remember I tried to sell my iPad pro a few months back and ebay/paypal wouldn't release the funds until I had sent the iPad... that to me does not sound like a fair deal and is completely biased in the buyers favour. Also the fact they can dispute after 6 months does not appeal to me in the slightest when it comes to high ticket items, for me it can only be cash/cheque

Contact Ebay and tell them that.

With things like that never mark them as your fault, cancel the sale via the buyer asked to cancel.

No out of stock affects your standards. Mark as issue with buyer address then it doesn't go against you

I hate to give obvious advice but you just have to keep selling and get good feedback to bring your seller rating up, i was in your position and that's what i did.

manage to save £213 from last week pay £1 FVF offer. this is not a bad deal if someone in a hurry to sell. Otherwise wait another 1-2 weeks and £1 FVF is back.

I will never use paypal or ebay to sell things specially paypal as some claimed there money back via bank as an unrecognised/dispute transactions and then paypal claimed the money back from me cheeky **** was about 9 months later such bull *** the person blatantly waited and obviously new why on earth would you wait that long to say oh hang on that random transaction isnt right. Plus when i said to paypal its not write they said they have no power to stop it happening so i said so in theory i can buy a high value item and wait past 6months then go to my bank and reverse transaction she said basically yes although it wrong

Sold a few high value items lately and saved a bit using these FVF deals but the Paypal fees still really eat into the money. I do use other sites but have to admit eBay still tends to get the results especially since we lost the FST forum on here

ebay having big issues at moment - cant buy or sell in UK (not sure if everyone but substantial outage) - may be affecting this offer.

Seems like a decent thing to do when you know it's down. Sellers who were expecting bids in the last few mins but can't could be won by you. No doubt a frequent negative feedback leaver when things out of sellers control go wrong.
Typical eBay buyer TBH!!
eBay need to cut the BS and just amend their rip off prices. Them and Paypal get 3% irrespective of their continual "offers". They pretend they are different companies. If that is true why can they put your money on hold in a company that is not theirs?!!
£1 on items up to £10, £2 up to £50, £4 up to £100, £7 up to £200, £8 for £300, £10 for £400, £15 for £500 - on TOTAL cost including postage PLUS the 3% Paypal fee
I don't think many people would have an issue with those fees, I certainly wouldn't. What do you think?
The fact that they don't actually store or send any items and all they (fail) to do is maintain is servers I wonder how many £million they make everyday from their UK operation? Based in Luxembourg.. Hmmmm

So you're proposing that if someone sells a low value item - say £1.70, the eBay fee should be a £1.00?
Perhaps you need to give your suggestion a bit more thought.

I gave up selling after a rash of non paying bidders. They were also overseas even though I set the auctions to U.K. only. eBay to me feels full of scammers.

I've never had that problem, but then again I almost always sell using "Buy it now". That way, the buyer has to pay immediately.
I've found eBay dispute resolution is pretty good, even as a seller. Once, someone claimed they had not received their item from me and reversed the payment, but eBay eventually found in my favour.
