It is a good deal, but I would like to have a higher resolution (FullHD on 13" is too fine for 1:1, and not fine enough for decent scaling), and at least 8GB of RAM. Obviously that would cost a bit more :-(

It was an SSD and silent at startup. After warming up the fan would buzz/rattle.
Insanely annoying and such a shame. Would you say it's silent even under heavy load?

Sack of crap. Wish I never had mine. Had fan failure on this model then they swapped me to the higher 7th gen i5 256gb ssd model as no stock and fan failure on that. Massive light blead on sides. Wish I could get rid of mine

I bought this laptop from dell outlet and the fan made a rattling / buzzing noise.
Sent the laptop back as it was doing my head in and I assumed this was a defect. Could anyone who owns this laptop confirm this was the case?
As I quite liked the laptop and wouldn't mind purchasing again if the fan worked correctly.

The 256 / 8gb / i5 is decent.
Get one of the outlet for sub 400 only difference is the lack of warranty.

I owned the i5 / 256GB version of this and sold it less than 6 months later. Trackpad is horrible, it isn't that heavy but it feels chunky. Battery lasted for about 3-4 hours when it stated 10 hours. I much prefer my Chromebook R13 I got for £200 and Macbook Air 2013 for £650.

£566 for i5 / 8gb / 256gb in Currys ATM (plus three month NowTV for £5). Not quite as cheap but more useable all round.

I got I7 processor, 512gb, 16gb Ram a 15inch screen for £715 from Dell outlet. Good laptop very fast response and touch screen is great. The batery life on average is between 3.5 - 7 hours it depending on your setting. Tablet mode is also great. Good for photoshop lightroom. Main point for me is my wife stop moaning about our old computer :smiley:

I3 is fine but can be limiting. There's only one memory bank. You have to unscrew and pry open the whole bottom cover to get to it.

Unless you only do very light browsing, and basic office stuff you will run into memory shortages. And 120GB of storage is only sufficient if you store all your files on a nas drive or in the cloud. Which isn't a bad idea.

If it's like the older Haswell model I have you just unscrew the back panel and everything is accessible. Very easy to do. On my old one I upgraded ram and changed to SSD without problems.

I think this is very poor in terms of processor and HD. It should be 256GB SSD and i5 minimum for this price. They have had it at this price for those specs every few months. Would not surprise me if they have it again over Easter.

CPU is fine (especially with SSD) and its FHD. What's wrong with that? True, 128GB is low. Difficult these days to get this spec, new, with 3 year warranty, for under £500.
And to think that before Christmas we were looking at 256GB, FHD, 15inch laptops (albeit HP) at £300.

The screen on these is very nice. And I like the form factor and touch screen.
Had two over the years bought from dell outlet.
They used to suffer from ghost touches problem which dell never really fixed. Newer models may be better quality.
Only one ram slot. And 4GB is ridiculously low these days. So is 128GB SSD. Both will need an upgrade.
Added up this makes it rather poor value for money.

This was on very site a while back at less money with their bnpl deal. I would have gone for it but I too would prefer the i5 processor but it was £200 more. Saying that though it could have been an older model as the i3 7100 scores a very respectable 5959 on benchmark.

Had a play with one of these in PC World today (i5/8Gb version). Given some of the reviews online I expected it to be pretty bad but I was impressed; especially with the screen and keyboard. The only other laptops with a keyboard as good (highly subjective I know) was the £850 HP Envy and the seriously expensive Dell XPS 13.
Will they though, will they really? I mean I still don't see any evidence for this in your posts.

Duh! They don't keep links up of their special deals. I keep an eye on this model as I own a 7000 model. Last Boxing Day/Jan sales and last Black Friday they had the 5000 with an i5 and 256SSD down to £449.00.
They also have it as a deal a couple of times per year if you buy via Paypal.
Keep an eye out for this Good Friday. In fact, looks like Dell have one sale finishing today so the new one could start tomorrow.
