Q: How long will the Eco Drive energy storage cell last in my watch?
A:
The rechargeable cell featured in Eco Drive watches is a highly specialized unit that will last a lifetime of use. Many times, it is incorrectly referred to as a “capacitor”.
It is highly unusual for these cells to fail. Most commonly, if an Eco Drive is stopping it is more indicative of a low charge. If it is running slow, it may indicate it is time to have the movement serviced.

that's nonsense. take it to a shop or citizen and they will tell you it needs serviced. for £130, and part of that service is replacing the "capacitor" or what ever they want to call it. would love to know what the rest of the service consists of to warrant an extra £100.
remember I'm speaking from experience here. not some marketing blurb form their site.
don't get me wrong I love my ecodrive, had it 10yrs before it started playing up. if it ever completely dies then I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. have almost pulled the trigger a few times on here over the last few years.
but to say these watches just last for ever, is absolute nonsense.

Maybe you kept it in the dark too long. I had a solar Casio and had to replace the BATTERY so have the same experience. It ultimately failed (after 8 years I might add) because I left it in storage, i.e. not in the light
Opening post
Hope it stays lovely as unfortunately it doesn't have scratch resistant glass.
Not many reviews but with Amazon's easy returns policy and Citizen 5 year warranty, worth a punt IMO.
