They seem to be pumping out these attractive exclusive quite regularly now but, if past performance is anything to be judged on, they do not change the prices after a few months - once you're on the deal, you stay on that deal for the foreseeable.
This seemed such a good deal for your medium user and its perfect for kids as it has a cap that you can set to prevent silly overspends!
it uses EE's 4G network
It allows tethering which is a big bonus

Just did a quick speed test on my Plus Net 4G SIM - 25Mbps download and 8MBps upload. Admittedly not up to double speed EE standard, but I'm not paying for that service. But more than adequate for streaming, web browsing, emails etc etc. The same test with a 3G MVNO SIM, (dual SIM phone) results in 8Mbps down and 3Mbps up. So Plus Net are definitely not full speed bandwidth as you would get with an Direct to EE contract, but are in my case circa 3 x the speed of 3G ... so you pays your money, and gets what you pays for.

For me, and possibly for most, 3GB of "fast enough" 4G data with 1500 minutes and unlimited text for £8.00 on a 30 day rolling contract is a good deal.

The good thing about this deal it's a 30 day contract so most you would be paying for is an additional month. If service is not good then take PAC code and leave.

I had repeatedly terrible service from plusnet. It seemed impossible to deal with someone who knew what they were doing or even cared. Obviously everyones experience is different but I wouldn't use them again no matter how good the deal was.

It really depends on your usage. Could you manage with 3Gb of data? This is 4G, so faster speeds, presuming you previously had 3G with T Mobile.

No you don't. You never lose credit on the account (as in overpayments). They'll refund whats left once they've finalised the account. You will lose excess minutes etc though - obviously[/quote]YES you do, I was on 3 PAYG until yesterday. Once you port your number you lose your remaining credit. On pay monthly if you are out of contract it may be different. The query was PAYG I lost 92 pence credit because the number has moved to plusnet from 3 and the 3 sim is no longer active. On PAYG they don't finalise the account you simply lose what's left.

Tesco have 250 mins (with 100 m data and 5000 texts) 1 month contract for £7.50 and they use o2 signal. Giff gaff have 150 mins for £5 month and also use o2. Think Tesco, giffgaff are maybe cheaper options rather than o2 direct

I switched to Plusnet a couple of months ago from giffgaff. Service so far has been excellent and now on the 1500 mins and 5GB data, can't go wrong for £10 per month. Speed regularly over 20mbs so no complaints. As with all the networks, coverage can be patchy and her in Wiltshire, O2 appear to be the better from experience.

My sincere thanks to all those that have helped guide me thus far.

I have checked reception in the room he will stay in - Only O2 gets a strong signal.

I am now looking for a pay as you go chip for 30 days which uses O2 directly or as MVNO.

If anybody knows of a pay as you go or 30 day rolling that is on special offer, or is a particularly good deal (txts never used, data never used - just plenty of voice calls) - I would be most grateful.

I'm not being lazy - I'm a carer - and I barely get 30 mins a day to myself.

Thanks again.

Hi

There are some good deals on the Virgin Mobile website for 30 day rolling

They also use EE's coverage and to be honest my wife and I have had no problems since we joined about a year ago.

30 day rolling contract :
http://store.virginmedia.com/virgin-media-mobile/sim-only/pay-monthly-sim.html

Be sure to check the coverage to see what the reception is gonna be like in your area first:

Good deal, however I wound't get too excited about it being 4G. Speeds on all the MVNO 4Gs are capped like 3G speeds ( 10-20 mbps) . So 4G here is just for name sake. I have see this happening with EE, Voda and 3 movo speeds.

Yes but mvno's 3g speeds are capped as well! Also you're forgetting the latency. 4g is like 20ms like normal broadband! 3g is useless sometimes feels really slow do a speed test and latency is like 100ms hence you are waiting around! Not everything is speed

No it stays the same. It just means it is a 30 day contract in comparison to some contract deals that tie you in to a 12 month contract, meaning you are free to cancel and change to another provider with minimal notice. If you do not change provider then it will roll over to another 30 day contract at £8 (per month)

If for under ten pounds, I can get a massive number. of mins included, I would prefer that.

If anybody has suggestions for a 30 day rolling, with a high number of mins - i'd be most grateful.

(If the underlying network used by your suggestions are ee or bt, even better. Good signal is important - We live within the M25 ).
